Just came for Tapas as our daughter asked for a dinner night at a Spanish restaurant in Town. Food was very good, very attentive service and an OK atmosphere as the place was kind of empty possibly because it was the night before Thanksgiving.

As a Realtor, I know the value of a space that feels warm and inviting, and Catalu delivers just that. This cozy gem combines the charm of Spanish tapas with an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Every dish was a delight, but the salmon? Absolutely unforgettable! Perfect for a casual dinner or celebrating something special. #carlamyagent #carlarodriguezrealtor

Everything was absolutely amazing from start to finish. It was my husband's birthday and the waiter was lovely. Ordered two Catalu paellas to split amongst friends and a bunch of tapas. Everything was exquisite. I highly recommend the croquettas, stuffed piquillo peppers, and the beet salad. We will definitely come again and bring my family here when they visit. Such a wonderful place!

I was lucky enough to have dinner with a work event and was lucky enough to try everything on the menu. I enjoyed everything and was surprised with a few plates I really liked I didn’t expect I would. Things a good place to hit for their service, food and atmosphere.

Came for a friend’s birthday brunch. Jess was so incredible. Gave many recommendations and none of them were disappointing. The chef is obviously very skilled.

Everyone was so nice here. We liked the beet salad the best of the dishes we tried. There is a parking garage and the restaurant will validate your ticket so the parking is free.

The place is beautiful, we loved the cortadito Catalan! The food was ok we tried different dishes,
good presentation but I was disappointed with the ceviche it wasn’t fresh at all! It had a good taste but you can tell it has been made for a while and the calamari wasn’t crispy enough

I am from Barcelona and live in Charlotte, and I approve this place, hehehe. I really enjoyed all the food. We had the mussels, the catalan-way spinach, and the octopus. Outstanding all of them. Perhaps a few more vegetable plates like escalivada or piquillo peppers stuffed with cod brandada would make the menu grow. I will definitely repeat.

Great staff and good charcuterie/cheese board, but what really counts is the paella, which I unfortunately deemed to the manager “the worst paella I’ve ever had in my life.” They even made a second attempt to correct the issues, but same cold, dry, old dish came out twice.

My wife and I had dinner with another couple. The atmosphere was very nice and in a nice part of South End.
The food did not meet our expectations. The Pulpo a la Galicia was good as an appetizer, but the paella Valenciana for two was not very good. The rice seemed overcooked and dry, and the seafood did not taste very fresh. Perhaps it was our mistake was our mistake choosing a Valencian dish in a Catalonia restaurant.
The service was good and the tasty.

WOW. Some of the best food we've had in Charlotte, and especially at the price point it's at. Their octopus is probably top 1 or 2 I've ever had. They've got great deals as well during the week, like half off bottles on Wednesdays. Really accessible, right on the blue line. This will likely be one of our main go to's in town.

Went here tonight to kick off my birthday weekend and was disappointed. Would not recommend.
The food was a huge salt bomb. While it looked good, the steak on the Catalu Paella was so salty we couldn’t even finish it. The grilled octopus was good, but the sauce made it too salty as well. We got the coquettes and they were just okay. The host also needs a better attitude. Our seating options were either towards the back or at the bar. His excuse was that they were really busy and that was the only table set for two inside. The inside dining room had tons of tables available.
On the plus side the drink was good and Diamond, our server, was really nice.
If you’re looking for Spanish tapas, I would recommend Yunta or Bulla Gastrobar. Better food quality for somewhat the same price.
