Hidden gem in CLT! Don't sleep on the Chalice Cafe!
I travel almost every week for work, and have traveled extensively for years. This spot is a hit. I was flying thru CLT, needed a non-greasy lunch and a place to post up before a 5 hour flight west, and found this restaurant.
I ordered the Grilled chicken BLT - what a treat! Terrific sandwich - not just for an airport - one of the best I've had. Cook on everything was great - bacon, toast on the bread, chicken, greens. 100% recommend.
It was early, so I didn't drink anything but water, but other patrons seemed very happy with their beverages, and the beer list looked great.
Finally - the bartender was friendly, great service. Crazy deep voice like Marvin Gaye, odd on a older white guy. I think the female patrons were enjoying! Nice guy, great service, voice made me laugh!

Well at 0930 could not get any food!! no breakfast left to order and no lunch until 10 am. Wow. So much for planning !!

As soon as I entered I was promptly confronted regarding the consumption of external food items. It is important to note that airports are frequently visited by individuals carrying items from various locations. Taking a curt tone as opposed to just gently letting us know we can’t eat the food in this specific section of the airport… 2 ft to the left is ok though. When we went to order the beers we came in for, I was informed that NC will not allow this older bartender to accept passport cards as legitimate ID which is inaccurate. For reference, I have included a direct link from Meck ABC. When informed she said she wouldn’t accept it and she knows the laws… while it is expected that employees perform their duties diligently, it is equally unacceptable to be blatantly incorrect and rude. Here’s the law for acceptable forms of ID in meck county. Hopefully her diligence doesn’t drive more customers away.

This is one of the worst business at an airport 🛫, have no type of manners. A pregnant lady was sitting down with like 8 months of pregnancy and they told her to get off their chair if she was not spending, after she had already said that the kitchen was closed 😳

If you sit in here with friends/family, each and every person in your group must be actively drinking in order for you to be welcome to a table otherwise you will be told to leave.

I walked in to the cafe with a to go drink with less than half remaining from another restaurant in the airport with the intention of ordering another drink. I was loudly yelled at by a member of staff stating “you can’t bring that in here” I told her I would finish it quickly and order another drink. She seemed very put out and inconvenienced to serve me. Also note there are no signs visible saying that drinks from other establishments were not allowed. This experience again confirms that I will avoid flying into Charlotte-Douglas if at all possible.

It was a very crowded and busy day at CLT. We needed someplace to sit and eat our food, and this seemed to be the only option. We could sit at their table if we ordered something. So we did.
Please be aware they do not list their prices in the menu. I had a simple mixed drink and my daughter ordered a bloody mary. They fail to tell you upon ordering that the bloody mary is a double cocktail!!!? So when you get your bill, it is for a double and almost $24 for a crummy bloody mary. I am aware airport prices are higher but this is absolute highway robbery, or should I say airport robbery in plain sight.
Service was good, but i am still in sticker shock 5 days after for the price.
