It’s funny people are surprised this place is not a good bang for your buck, it’s literally in their name “CHEATS”. They cheat you on portion, and certainly cheat you on price. Not the worst cheeseteak ever, but they are basically just preying on late night drunk people. That’s the only time I’d ever consider going back, when I’m not in my right mind.

Waited 45 min and paid $40 for cheese steak and pork roll sandwiches and they got the order wrong. Save your time and your money

This place has no sense of Customer Service. although the food was decent they took like 25 minutes to make the most basic thing on the menu, the OG. I literally put my order in second person in line after the place opened up and two people that had larger orders got their orders before me. $20 for a single sandwich with bad service. I’ll probably never be coming back here.

Good steak. They forgot my order but remade it quickly. Parking isn’t the best but it’s the best I’ve had in CLT.

I live just two blocks from Cheats Cheesesteaks in South End and had high hopes after hearing great things about their updated cheesesteak. I ordered one with Cooper Sharp cheese and grilled onions. While the steak itself was pretty tasty, the sandwich was surprisingly small and barely had any cheese. For a little over $19 after tax, it felt underwhelming and not quite worth the hype or the price. Workers were nice tho!

Food was not good at all. When asking for assistance with the ordering process I was snubbed and I just had a question. The employees are clearly not happy with their jobs. The service wasn’t even something I would call service. $80 later I will never recommend this place. However I do recommend that this company does a better job of hiring staff.

I got a cheesesteak with cooper sharp and sweet peppers. Total was $19.74. I rate the cheesesteak high - very good. However the size was disappointing for this price.

Absolutely horrible idea to shrink the menu and get rid of the small cheesesteaks in the heart of a work lunch area of town.

I’ve been rocking with Cheat’s since the pop-up days and it’s been awesome watching them grow into multiple locations. What started in 2020 as pop-ups around town (even Panthers games) became a brick-and-mortar on Pecan Ave in 2022, and now there’s a South End spot right on the Rail Trail (2137 Hawkins St) and I'm loving the glow-up.
This visit was a celebration lunch after wayyy too many missed meals cutting for an IBJJF tournament, and Cheat’s mostly delivered like always. I ordered the Cheat’s OG (ribeye, Cooper Sharp, grilled onions, Cheat’s sauce) and enjoyed almost every bite.. everything between the bread was a 10/10. The roll was the only miss for me that day; maybe an off bake, maybe a new supplier, but it didn’t wow me the way it has before. Still, the steak/cheese/onion/sauce combo? Money.
I also grabbed the Honey Sriracha wings. The flavor was solid (more honey than heat for my palate) but tasty all the same. Next time I’ll ask for extra heat. I love Cheat’s and it remains an easy recommendation especially as a home-grown Charlotte brand that’s scaled up without losing the soul of a great cheesesteak shop. Even with my quibble about the bread on this visit, it’s still an easy go-to.

They changed their menu and it’s not great. Smaller more expensive subs(not cheesesteaks anymore) with different bread. As a regular customer, I won’t be back. Better off going to jersey mikes now.

Great steak. Looked and tasted like an authentic Philly.

Not at all what I expected. I ordered a chicken Philly cheesesteak. Chicken was chunks and not the chicken steak. My sandwich was a liquid mess. Chicken was dry also. Never again at this point. I’m frankly tired of the laziness of a lot of these charlotte restaurants. And then they get upset because I left a honest review.
