I came here about 3 years ago and I had the best catfish ever. I'm from California where you can always find catfish at soul food restaurants the way I like it. Living in Maryland had me deprived. I tried this place on a trip to Charlotte with a friend and I have never forgotten it.

What can I say??? Everything on the menu makes you want to eat more!!! Cynthia really does love & treat everybody like family & cooks with love...you can definitely taste it in her food!!! The absolute best soul food in Charlotte!!

The food was ok. The only thing i didnt like about this restaurant was the limited choices. I wanted to try the fried chicken but you can only get half pieces. Some of the things on the menu wasnt available as the day went on. I got the spagetti and didnt like it. The string beans are off the hook. I wanted the banana pudding but it wasnt ready yet so i got the cake and i didnt like it.

I looked this restaurant up in Yelp to check the hours and I called this restaurant before driving over just to make sure it was open. I drove over less than 30 minutes later (in the rain) only for them to tell me that they weren't taking any more walk in orders. This was really disappointing and unprofessional. I was excited to eat here since I'm from Southern California and they market themselves as "California Style Soul Food" but I won't give them another opportunity to turn me away.

The Turkey meatloaf dinner was amazing! I had Mac n Cheese, Candied Yams, Cabbage, Green beans, and Butter bean sides and they were ALL so good and perfectly seasoned!

The fried whiting was delicious, I love seafood and Charlotte is pretty far inland but it's all in the preparation and they nailed it. The butterbeans were fantastic as well.

Worst experience in Charlotte! She is not open when website states so make sure u call first. She was very rude to me and my boyfriend over the phone and hung up when we informed her some of the info on the website was wrong. She called back and said the food would be ready 5 hrs from the time we called. When we got the food, we found hair in our Mac and cheese and the fish tasted like it was fried in 3 day old grease. I was sick for 3 days! DO NOT EAT HERE!

This is my favorite soul food place in Charlotte. I am not a fan of everything, but that's the case with anything. The food is not QUICK which I can also appreciate because if it was made too quickly I would wonder about HOW it was prepared. I genuinely love the banana pudding, macaroni and cheese, greens, fried chicken, cornbread, and butter beans. Definitely give them a try if you are ever in the area or have a hankering for some soul food!

Run, don't walk to this Soul Food restaurant. As one of the patrons said, who was dining when my family and I walked in, the food is made from the soul, just for you! Everything is made to order, so be patient, it is well worth it! Everyone at the table had whiting, it was golden brown and the taste divine! I had cabbage and yams that make you want to smack somebody! My sister had the green beans and potato salad. My dad had the butter beans, along with the yams! Please support this small black business, you won't be disappointed!

Saturday Sept. 14th 2019 ERD's Eatery and Catering was suggested by a subscriber, I think I have been living under a rock because I had never heard of this place. So I looked up a the restaurant, read a few reviews and knew without a doubt I needed to try this place. I jumped in the car, camera in tow and we were off to review this place. Upon arrival i noticed a strip of businesses with a single row of parking, I spotted ERD's by the PINK window logo and the building sign that read SOUL FOOD. When I walked inside it instantly felt like home, I was greeted with a smile and a very polite employee... which I later figured out ERD doesn't have employees, if you work there you are a part of the family. Honestly if you eat there you are apart of the family. Okay sorry let me get back on track, the aroma was amazing and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The restaurant was clean, the chairs were comfortable they even have Netflix playing to keep you occupied as you wait for your meal to be prepared. Be patient if you walk in to order, everything is cooked to order and seemingly prepared with love. I noticed they received a good bit of call in orders while I was there so thats alway an option if you want it to go. After reviewing the menu I decided to order a combination plate (Fried Whiting fish, Fried chicken, Mac n Cheese, Cabbage and a piece of cornbread) Everything arrived to my table hot and fresh it was a little over $16 but worth every penny. The fish tasted so amazing, that batter was fried golden on the fish, not too hard, not too soft but just right whew and then the flavor! The flavor was like an explosion of spices and deliciousness in my mouth, I can taste it again as I type this review. Same goes for the fried chicken, the Mac and cheese was rich and flavorful, the cabbage was also flavor filled to the max (a little strong for my taste but still good). My oh my the CORNBREAD I must admit, the cornbread caught me off guard, it wasn't dry and it was sweet, fluffy and delicious! Listen if you have never tried ERD's do yourself a favor and go ASAP, you will not be disappointed, Go hungry and leave happy!!! I will be returning and it was a pleasure to experience this quality of food from Chef Cynthia and Family! Black_Walter_
