First time coming after seeing a post on social media…food was decent but not worth the pricing. Half the food was sold out (only 12 pm) and by time my food came it looked like scraps of whatever was left. Paid $6 extra for meat and got like two bites worth! (I got the breakfast bowl) and same goes for the potatoes. To top it off it was cold. The flavor was decent but not sure if I’ll come back. Whoever made that social media post, really put up a front…

To begin with if this is your first time it may take you a second to realize that El Toro Bruto is actually in the back half of Resident Culture. Service was awkward at best because originally I wanted to just eat at the bar (resident culture) but what I wanted was only available at El Toro so I had to go back there and the hostess was awkward. Asked to sit at the bar back there she had to go ask because she didn't even know if I was allowed to... I was told I couldn't sit at the bar restaurant side so I was seated at a table. Told em I just wanted to order something to take to the bar... They still brought everything for dine in, so had to package the food myself no biggie. My issue was the fact that those little ceviche tostadas were like $20?! In my opinion this place is highly overrated and overpriced. Service was subpar. The food was pretty good for what it's worth but most definitely not worth what they're charging. I think resident culture has better food at a much more reasonable price, not to mention much better service from the bartenders.Parking: Parking is a pain and whatever you do watch where you park if you park on the street because you're liable to end up with a parking ticket.

AWESOME

The dinner menu online wasn't fully available- none of the listed entrees, and the prices were also different. There is no table service. You order from a QR code, and the food is brought to you.

Very cute place, nice downtown vibe. I like the bar, coffee shop and restaurant in one. I had the steak tacos, very nice flavor and dressed beautifully. The steak was a little tough. The Al pastor had great flavor, little on the dry side. Best tacos I’ve had since moving to NC. The corn salad was refreshing, the rice was fluffy and seasoned well. The beans were also cooked and seasoned well. The chocolate cookie is to die for, it’s loaded with chocolate chips. The concha was out of this world. I’m used to Mexican sweet breads being very dense. This was fluffy, light, delicate and delicious. They had an impressive array of beer selections also. I will defiantly be back to try the bar and coffee. The service was amazing, the staff was helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.

Been going since they opened it’s been getting hard to figure out where to order from at one point ordered from the counter then there was QR codes on the table now who knows. The two best products they produce have been sold out numerous times (Barbacoa and Al pastor) pretty much making it not worth going. Also the fries have changed so many times from their original menu. Makes it really hard to know what you going to get when you go

Went to an amazing multi-course meal event for Juneteenth with Chef Santana. Environment, food, entertainment, the entire event was elegant and filled with culture, history and some dope figures in the community. I meet journalists, the NC PROJECT Space fam, Maetres from Brazil, just a plethora of good ppl. Loved the space. Santana is a brilliant chef. A true experience worth having again.

Went here after hearing great things about the breakfast tacos. I got the steak and bacon breakfast tacos. They were very filing, and I loved the griddled cheese. However, the addition of baked beans was an odd choice for a breakfast taco, and clashes with the other flavors. Next time I will order without the beans. The service here is top notch!Parking: 10 or so free spots. Usually full.

The layout does not intuitively guide you to where you can get seated or receive service. After we put in our order no one delivered our food and no one came back to check on our table after starting our food, despite being one of the very few customers in the building. The food was however excellent, this is an issue with service.Parking: Limited parking
