The best Soul Food in the Queen City. Mrs. Freshwater is always a Delight to see. The Food, Served Fresh and it is DELICIOUS!!!!

I can’t express how delicious the food here was the other night! My sister in law, Jennifer, recommended it for dinner, and it didn’t disappoint. The salmon cakes were heavenly. The catfish, ribs, red beans and rice, fried cabbage, okra, and desserts were all fantastic. The only part of the meal that was lacking was the bar. Having limes to go with cocktails would be amazing.

Vegetarian options: Some vegetables cooked with turkey.

Dietary restrictions: My sister is gluten free and was able to have several things.

Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs into the restaurant. Very accessible.

The owner came out and talked to us about the menu and how they cook the food. She told us about the specials. The waitress Courtney was amazing and attended to our needs. Food was so good my boyfriend saved some just to take home lol. Will be going back again

This was our first time here . The atmosphere was nice the food was so good blackened salmon was delicious , cabbage was the best yam so good . Everyone makes you feel very welcome. We will be back .

Amazing service, and the food was delicious too! We especially loved the salmon cakes, cajun chicken pasta and the peach cobbler! Would definitely come back for a date night again.

Absolutely love this restaurant if you're looking for good soul food made from scratch this is the place to go. They have amazing catfish serve different ways, traditional style fried blackened or Cajun style which is what I had. I also had the collard greens cabbage red beans and rice
My wife got the barbecue boneless chicken along with the mac and cheese which my wife said was the best she ever had.
Stop with super friendly very knowledgeable about the area, recommended a clothing store for me the fashion warehouse.
The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming.

Had lunch here when visiting downtown Charlotte. Owner and chef were extremely nice, both came to the table to give us recommendations. The Cajun food was awesome. Another plus is ample free parking.

When I walked in, it felt like HOME!! The waitress Mary was SUPER friendly and nice (felt like a friend from back in the day). The owner came and greeted us and told us about all the specials! I REALLY enjoyed this part of the dinner. It's not often if at all the owner has time to come out and speak to you. Now on to the food. WOW!! DELICIOUS !? The crab cakes were the meatiest crab cakes I've EVER had! The YAMS were super sweet and seasoned to perfection if you asked me! They have a special tea that I'm still thinking about! ???
If you're in town, definitely give this place a try!
