This is a festive and lively place! The decor is so fun and often they have a live (polka) band. There are lots of games to play- board games and other (like shuffle board and foosball). They always have a Photo Booth/camera that you can take pics and have them texted to yourself. It can be pretty loud and the crowd is usually on the older side (than the typical south end brewery) and often there are children. It’s very cool that the original Gilde is in Germany and is so old. I’m guessing the food is more on the authentic side than the home cooked johnsonville brats that I usually have. The fries were hot, crispy, and delicious. Oh, and they have a shotski! We’ll be back to try that!

Great beer, food, and entertainment. Would have been five stars if the music wasn’t so loud outside.

Great food, knowledgeable staff, and lots of games to play. We played fus-ball in between courses and beers, and it was not a concern of management. Great German countryside tavern feel

I will preface this review with the fact that I am not part of the trendy fad that likes IPAs and sours…. This place serves true, classic German style beer and true German food. I absolutely love this place, and it might be my favorite place in all of the south end. Anyone who lives there knows that is saying a lot, cause there are a lot of good places in the area.

Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon while we were in town trying local breweries and collecting stickers. Bartender was friendly, and informative.
Husband said the beer he tried was delicious, and trivia was starting as we were leaving.

A hidden gem in LoSo. The environment has plenty of space and is welcoming unlike many congested CLT breweries. The beer selection is great quality with many flavorful options. Going in, we underestimated how delicious the food is. Our waiter was awesome as well. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This place is an experience. I especially love going when they do the stein holding competitions but I enjoy coming here any day of the week. Beer is great, menu is great (although I have had cold food more than once, even on very slow days when we’re the only ones there), the decor is great. Only complaint is the music - it never matches the vibe or the theme of the place at all. I come here because I love the German beer hall ambience and themes and German food and beers - give me the polka too. It’s weird trying to be in the moment and obnoxious dance music is playing when it’s the middle of the day. Just my opinion. Still love ya though.

Arrived Thursday evening around 4ish in town for Run the Jewels. The Brewery had just opened so a few customers but not too busy. I must say the food and the beer were both excellent. The schnitzel was divine and the Bavarian pretzel with the Cheese was amazing and big enough to share, I destroyed that before I could take a picture lol. The sauerkraut was hands down some of the best I have ever had and I understand why this place was so highly rated. The price was 50 for me but that includes a full entree, the appetizer and a couple beers so great value to me. The portion sizes were also very satisfying as I barely finished and had to take the rest home. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who gets a chance to visit and shout-out to Jack for the amazing customer service and his knowledge on the food and Beer. Once again the schnitzel was top tier and came in beef, chicken and veal options. I had the pork. I can tell this will be a great place to watch the World Cup if I am not able to make it next year.

This is such a great place, the only one in the US and totally authentic in its German brewery not a microbrewery, located by the light rail it’s easy to get to without driving which is a plus! We stopped by the other day and realized they did not open for a couple of hours, started to leave when Jack came out and asked us back in. We were so happy that they opened early for us and they said anytime we saw someone in they would usually open, so make sure this is a brewery you DO go too, you don’t want to miss the beer, food, atmosphere or amazing service! Thanks Jack and team!
