Golden Owl Tavern

We arrived and we're hoping to get lunch with family. The server said lunch was not served until 2pm, so we told her we were ok waiting. The time to 2 was not far. Server came back and said that chef wouldn't serve lunch until 3pm. We had to leave and look for another place to have lunch.

Ate here with a group of about 25 people. Our server was excellent. Appetizers (roasted brussel sprouts, wings, and pizza/flatbread) were really good. Only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars was because of the steaks. Everyone at my table ordered steak, and they were all overcooked by at least one level. I ordered medium rare, and mine was more like medium well. Otherwise, great food and service.

Ordered a salad and added salmon. It was the tiniest most pathetic piece ever for a $30 salad. The manager came by and asked me and I said it was a very small portion and he just shrugged and walked off. He shouldn’t have asked if he didn’t want to hear the feedback…

Food was way too salty and seemed microwaved not cooked fresh. Flank steak was stringy. Crème brûlée was Nutella flavored and the consistency was like Jello pudding not custard. Service was excellent though.

I have been many times to Golden Owl as I bring seminar speakers there from UNC Charlotte. The food overall is okay. Quick note to the chefs-the new taco appetizer is too much food for an appetizer, it should be a main. Th service is very random. About one third of the times I have eaten there the server has been superb. The other two times, the service has been poor. This was includes lack of knowledge about the food/drink selection, timing of coming to the table and general professionalism. This may be due to staff turnover/new hirings, but the service really detracts from the experience

Breakfast was great had the Vegetarian Omelette with the house fries and it was delicious. The wait staff was amazing.

We had a reservation but still had to wait. The bartender was amazing I wish I had gotten her name. Management was very rude.

The Golden Owl is usually good but this time the food was slightly different. Wasn't as good

Great ambience great food enjoyed the scenery very nice dimmed light low toned would go back just wish it was more of selection of items but food was great

Server was great! Amazing attitude. Extremely helpful and makes great whiskey drinks.

Spicy shrimp tacos - Not my cup of tea. Tasted fishy, shell was super soft like it was old. Extremely drippy like it was loaded with oil. Didn’t like much.

Pasta - Great flavor. Just needed to be hotter temperature wise.

Hot Spicy Chicken Sandwich - Oily, bread was way too moist from the “chow chow” which made the sandwich last enjoyable. The chicken wasn’t made properly. The presentation of the food was great.

Wings (Buffalo) - Freshly made. Decent.

The atmosphere was great and servers were friendly. Enjoyed our time there. However, service was slow and drinks had to be ordered multiple times. The food was over cooked (multiple people ordered medium-rare steak and got well-done). Overall, for the area, probably one of the best restaurants but still some improvements needed.

Nice restaurant but the wait and service is horrible. We had to wait to get our order taken and that was like 30 minutes and now the food we been waiting almost a hour.

The food was great me and my Auntie went here and the steak was mind blowing 5-stars waiter was good too🫶🏾
