The shop was very cute and the workers were very sweet, but the matcha itself was disappointing. I got an earl grey matcha and it just tasted like milk :(

This coffee shop is an absolute gem! I tried their pandan caramel macchiato, and it was hands down one of the most unique and delicious drinks I’ve had in a long time. The pandan flavor was beautifully balanced with the sweetness of the caramel, blending seamlessly with the rich espresso and creamy milk! What truly made the experience unforgettable was the owner. He took the time to personally share his story and the journey of opening his shop, which added such a meaningful and personal touch to our visit. His passion, kindness, and pride in what he’s created really shine through and make the space feel warm and welcoming. You can tell so much love and intention goes into every detail from the drinks to the atmosphere! If you’re looking for incredible coffee paired with genuine hospitality, this place is a must-visit. We will absolutely be back!!

I think about this place daily after I was there two months ago. Not only is the matcha delicious, it’s so clear the owner is very passionate about his business. I want to come back and try all the matchas!!!

Found this place while strolling around and I know I had to try matcha when I find it. The place itself is quiet and clean. Ordered ‘to the yams’ with oatmilk as I’m a huge matcha and ube fan. The drink was delicious with right amount of sweetness from ube and perfectly complementing the matcha. Will definitely be back to try out more drinks and bakery stuff.

Deeply disappointing experience -

I went to try out this matcha cafe, and everything about my visit was a letdown. Firstly, everything was an up charge; hot or cold was extra, choosing a size was extra, and by the time we actually got to the drink price, it felt like a joke.

In addition, the quality did not justify any of it. The matcha tasted awful and artificial, and even worse, it left a bright dye-like stain on my fingers that still hasn’t come off. I have never had matcha behave like that, and it honestly made me question what they are using.

The drink itself was poorly made: the powder was not mixed properly, so there were some clumps floating around, and at least half the cup was just foam. We ended up with way less drink than what we paid for.

Overall, overpriced, low quality, and strangely messy. Definitely not worth the money or the trouble. I won’t be returning.

My partner and I went for an afternoon walk to get some matcha and decided to stop in Gotcha Matcha & Espresso. We were greeted by very enthusiastic employees (on being the owner) and they helped us select that drink that would most fit our cravings. Very delicious classic matcha latte and dirty matcha latte! We will definitely be back :)

Tucked quietly inside a hotel lobby, Gotcha Matcha & Espresso is a hidden gem that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. I stopped in for their Ube Latte and was thrilled to find a single Ube Cinnamon Bun waiting— oozing with that vibrant purple glaze and pure joy.

The staff were all incredibly friendly, the kind of people who make a quick coffee stop feel personal. I left with my latte, my cinnamon bun, and a smile that carried me through an eight-hour drive home. Five stars, easily. 🇵🇭

Gotcha Matcha is the place to go for matcha and espresso! The baristas are super welcoming and do a great job explaining the different flavors on the menu. I am an avid espresso drinker and their ubesso latte is to die for! You can tell management has a passion for what they do and they provide a great atmosphere. Must visit in uptown Charlotte!
