We stopped by Hickory Tavern for what we hoped would be a slam-dunk dinner—and to be fair, the food delivered. Burgers? Juicy. Fries? Crispy. Wings? Basically a religious experience. The kitchen deserves a round of applause (and possibly its own cooking show).
Enter: Sue, our server. Now, Sue wasn’t exactly rude—just… operating on airplane mode. She might’ve been practicing the ancient art of waitress minimalism because she truly mastered the “now you see me, now you don’t” technique.
We asked for ketchup and thought she’d gone on a quest to harvest tomatoes herself. Our drink refills arrived sometime between dinner and the Renaissance. I started wondering if we were part of a hidden camera experiment: “How long will they wait before giving up and drinking from the ranch cup?”
But hey—maybe Sue was having an off day. Or maybe she’s secretly the manager, the bartender, and the DJ, all wrapped in one very tired human.
All said, great food, and Sue, if you’re reading this: We believe in you. You’re just one iced tea and a smile away from greatness.

Under appreciated gem in my opinion. Their food is very good. I actually love their cheese burger, it reminds me of the old days when nice taverns used to make the best burgers because of their grill I imagine. 5* from me.

I had never heard of this place but was taken here by some customers while visiting Charlotte. The menu was diverse without being too long or overly complicated. Our waitress showed up promptly, was friendly, and was there as often as we needed. Despite it being the lunch hour, all our food came out in a relatively quick fashion. My steak tacos were fantastic, and the house chips I had with them were very good.

After a long day out in the heat exploring and hiking around the state,with family from out of town, we had returned to my sister’s hotel which was only 2 minutes away. We asked my niece and nephew where they would like to grab a quick bite before we all settled in for the night. They chose Hickory Tavern. Once we got there we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server came out and got our drink order and we started with some croissants and chili. My wife ordered the Chicken Caprese, she really enjoyed it. I had the special Blackened Salmon Summer Salad. It was huge. I really liked the mixed blend of lettuces and ingredients, very refreshing after a long day in the sun. The kids got Cheeseburgers and my sister ordered the Ribeye. She had gotten a side salad but ordered the wrong one. When she asked if she could exchange for a Caesar Salad the staff accommodated immediately. My family was very happy and said next time here they want to come back to try some other items. See you soon

Had a great lunch here while traveling. It was the perfect spot to stretch our legs. We sat on the patio with our dog and 2 kids. There was a grassy area outside of the patio to walk the dog around and games on the patio to keep the kids entertained. Recommend the fiesta salad with the grilled salmon. Delish
