Just ok sushi and then you can't leave until the host or hostess that took your initial order is available to provide your check literally trapping you at the restaurant even if you have a flight to get to
DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL LEAVE AN UNAUTHORIZED TIP CHARGE
THIS PLACE GAVE THEMSELVES AN UNAUTHORIZED 40% TIP
I stopped by this place while waiting on a flight in the airport and wanted a snack. I thought everything was fine even though the sushi is overpriced and tasted comparable to whole foods sushi.
I was notified a few days later though my CC provider via alert that I seemed to of left a 40% tip on my bill. Which is funny because I was never shown a tip screen when I paid.
I assumed this would be the case since the kiosk is set up as a grab and go instead of a restaurant.
I picked up 1 sushi roll and water, and then when I tried to sit in the seating area near the cashier had the nerve to tell me that this was for the bar customers only.
I suspect this had more to do with hiding their screen than it did me actually sitting there.
This is fraudulent and I will be contacting my CC institution.
Per other reviews this isn't the first time it's happened either.
Truly gross. Frozen. Even had it been fresh, still gross: *way* overcooked rice so gelatinous as to form a solid mushy layer, barely any cucumber or avocado in the first half of the roll and none in the other, even less shrimp. Yuck.
I had gotten food from Carolina BBQ pit and there were no seats in the food court. Went to go sit down sit it was mostly empty and was told it's only for people who got food that little sushi takeout.
Very disappointed.
asked for tofu on the veggie roll when ordering at the bar. grab & go had a veggie roll without CC. specified i’m vegan and no cream cheese but still gave it anyways, didn’t realize until i ate one and fixed it. PLEASE TAKE NOTES SERVERS - feel like they are too “busy” to know what vegan means
Must request veggie roll, not on menu and none in the grab and go. It tasted decent, but mediocre seaweed salad tbh but that and the veggie roll were satisfying despite lacking protein. Maybe save some money and skip the expensive crappy seaweed salad
First in Flight Hissho Sushi Bar
I bought take out sushi and was told I couldn't eat it at their tables. Thanks for the accommodation Sushi! Much better sushi out there
For airport sushi, Hissho Sushi at Charlotte Douglas International Airport does a decent job, but it’s nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant is conveniently located in a bright, open space between terminals B & C making it an easy stop for travelers with some time to kill.
The menu offers a solid selection of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, with some creative combinations. I went with a mixed plate featuring nigiri and one of their specialty rolls, Crown Town roll, which had a nice presentation with crispy toppings and drizzles of sauce. The fish was fresh enough for an airport setting, but the freshness didn’t particularly stand out—pretty standard sushi without anything that made it exceptional.
The atmosphere is typical for an airport dining experience—functional but not particularly inviting. Service was efficient, which is a plus for travelers on a schedule. Prices are a bit high, but that’s to be expected in an airport setting.
Overall, Hissho Sushi is a reasonable choice if you’re desperately craving sushi while passing through CLT, but it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit, unless stuck in CLT airport for a few hours.
Overpriced as expected, but the extremely rude employee made it a very bad experience.

The overpriced sushi would’ve been fine if they don’t kick you out for buying from the self service instead of the menu. the place was almost empty but I couldn’t sit down

We stopped by for drinks and sushi and wanted to start with just drinks. Unfortunately it became busy, so we tried to catch our servers attention to order sushi twice. Even an additional once while ordering more drinks and the waiter zoomed away before we finished. We ended up buying pre-made sushi after waiting an hour, which was fine with us, but we were told "you know you could have ordered fresh sushi" by our waiter... and yes, we would have if we had been given a moment of time. Drinks were good, but outrageous pricing that wasn't listed on the menu.

Sushi is great. Service is not. 3 people "working " 1 was making sushi. The other two were watching from the resteraunt/area seats and one was trying to tell me to use the automatic check out from across the room over the music. He finally got up. - Sorry to inconvenience you with a purchase.
