It’s a cool bar and stuff but lately I realized they been forcing people to pay extra for tips. Don’t get me wrong, I did see the sign that said “if you leave without closing the tab, it will be automatically 20% gratuity”. So I was trying to close it personally with the host but she kept forcing me to drop it in the box that “automatically charging 20% extra”. And said it’s the store policy?? It’s supposed to be mandatory, since it was a busy night and I got ignored for most of the time. Which I wasn’t bothered by much but I don’t think it was worth what I get charged extra for. If somehow Hoppin automatically charging 20% extra, please have the sign more exposed. So I don’t have to come in and get crappy services because tips already included anyway.
Great Vibes. Pour your own beer. Wrist band system is easy and fast. Logan up front made it easy. 10/10 would come again.

Beer selection is good! Its odd to have an uncharted to pour your own beer, though nice to not have to wait. Not for those that like a traditional bar experience.

Several taps, but only a couple of beers I wanted to try. Considering the number of outstanding breweries in the region, I was surprised not to see more rare or unique offerings. Vibe was also weird. We went around 6pm on a weeknight, and there was a DJ blasting loud club music (and the place was empty). Didn't fit what youd expect from a beer-focused establishment.

We used to go to Hoppin’ in grad school in the late 2010s, right around when they first opened - and it truly felt like a one-of-a-kind experience at the time. The self-pour tap wall, lively atmosphere, and awesome food trucks made it such a fun and unique place to hang out. We loved relaxing on the patio with our dogs, trivia nights or live music, and just soaking in the good vibes. It quickly became a favorite weekend spot and still brings back great memories.

We visit Hoppin' frequently and we were happy to use this place for our wedding rehearsal dinner. Great beers and service!
HORRIBLE music! Great staff. Decent selection of self-service beer and wine taps. Didn't see the great popcorn they used to serve.

Hands down one of the best bars I have ever been to.
Super cool vibes and excellent customer service. You get a wristband to track your beer and alcohol purchases. There was a delicious food truck out back. The chicken bowl and loaded fries were on point.
There was live DJ and they played some great music. We brought our 2 daughters and the gentleman that checked us in went above and beyond and brought them over some sour patch kids. Modelos were on sale for $2. We would definitely come back again the next time we are in Charlotte. It’s a really cool concept.

Hoppin’ hosted our private event this past Friday on the mezzanine level where we had @venustattoostudio.clt doing fine line tattoos for our guests. The staff at Hoppin’ was extremely kind, helpful and there for anything we needed that evening. Prior to the event they were thorough in every aspect of the planning process. We had the best time and we would recommend Hoppin’ 10/10. Thank you Rich and your amazing staff!

The drinks at Hoppin’ were solid, but my experience was ruined by the bartender’s shady practices. He was adding his own tip without consent, which is completely unacceptable. Both times I swiped my card, my total should’ve been around $24 plus tax, yet I was charged $30 each time. I wanted to try the beer special for 25% off, but with the way he was upcharging, I didn’t even bother risking another charge. It’s a cool spot, but I can’t support a place where the staff is taking advantage of customers like this.
