I ordered orange chicken and I'm pretty sure they gave me General tso. I wouldn't have cared except that it didn't taste anything like general tso. Sauce was questionable. I also ordered pork dumplings they were borderline raw. Not appetizing at all. 0/10 wouldn't feed this to a homeless person.
I just want to say that I lived in Charlotte for 16 years and I would always recommend House of Leng and it was known to be my favorite Chinese restaurant!! We relocated a few years ago so the only time I would get my favorite Chinese food was when my husband had to come to Charlotte for work and he would bring back my favorite dish. Even though we had moved, I still always praised House of Leng and no other Chinese restaurant could compare. Unfortunately, my heart was broken this weekend. . While in town for a day, there was no doubt where we would have dinner. Needless to say, we were VERY disappointed. The service was awful. I had to walk to the kitchen to ask for serving utensils and plates, we had to ask for more soda and the food tasted like there had been a kitchen fire. The food tasted like smoke. This was fried rice and wings. I don't know if something happened at this location or if both locations have gone through changes, but we won't be going to this one again. I'm so sad.
Love house of leng. The prices are affordable and the service is quick. Their shrimp lo mein is delicious! good quantity as well.
There is an unfortunate shortage of good American Chinese restaurants in Charlotte. Most are just down right awful. House of Leng kinda falls right in the middle. Decent but not that impressive. I ordered delivery and while it took quite a while to arrive the food arrived hot and fresh. We ordered the chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce, egg drop soup, and general chicken. Assuming that "general chicken" meant General Tsos chicken might have been the wrong thing to do since it didn't taste or resemble Tso's. It did however come spattered with mushrooms, peppers and broccoli which was a welcome difference. The bits of chicken tasted alright but I'm not sure this would be a regular dish for me if I found myself returning to HoL. The chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce was definitely the best thing we ordered. tender chicken and luscious eggplant in a very flavorful sauce, though not the best version of this dish I've had, still pretty great for Charlotte. The fried rice at least had some egg and veggies in it though it didn't taste very fresh and the egg drop soup was just ok. Overall a decent output of food compared to similar spots in town but I regret to say that the search for my go-to Chinese restaurant continues.
Wow - I have never had such terrible service!! I really like their food too. We went this past weekend - were there for almost 1.5 hours. Took them 15 minutes to greet us and take drink orders after seating us. It looked like their kitchen people were serving and it was chaotic and unorganized. Server finally took our order - after about 30 minutes they brought the food for half the table. They said that the rest would be served momentarily. After another 30 minutes - when the people that had gotten food had finished eating - they brought us the check for the whole table. HALF our table NEVER GOT FOOD!!!! We decided to go to another restaurant for the rest of our party and they took the food we didn't get off the bill - didn't get any apologies, no notice from the manager - nada!!!! We won't be going back and now refer to this place as "The House of Disappointment".. real shame as I really love their tofu dishes.. I will miss them but there's no excuse for this shoddy mismanagement and poor attention to the customers. Half of our table enjoyed the meal..
Tried this place for the first time over the weekend. The prices are reasonable, the food is ok, and the service was mediocre. We tried a few dishes- fried chicken, steamed seafood potstickers, scallion tofu, Sesame tofu, and fried rice. Everything was okay, but the potstickers weren't too good. We had about three people serving us, so you know How that goes lol.
Only brought food for half the table! Completely forgot the other persons order. Didn't check on us for over 35 minutes! Worst service ever! Will not be coming back!
I really like this place it's in the perfect spot. You can literally smell the place before you get in. It's a great smell to. The prices are as they should be and the food is great and very fulfilling big portions of food but I love that. If you've never been you need to try it.
I typically go to the other location but this one was on my way home so I stopped in to order carry out. Service was polite but my order inexplicably took nearly an hour to prepare. Once I got it the food was the HOL quality I am used to.
It was alright. Definitely have had MUCH better but the portions are huge! Kind of pricey for what it is...

We were visiting from California. Good food and reasonably priced. Different than the West Coast Chinese food we're used to, but definitely worth the visit. For that amount of food we would have paid about $75 in CA. It was less than $50.
When I didn't leave a tip, the waitress got an attitude and confronted me then told other customers that I didn't tip. If it was a big deal she could have can to me. I purchased one thing. I'll never go back I felt harassed.
We just tried House of Leng tonight for the first time. We ordered take out. It was surprisingly very good. We are from nj and have had a hard time finding the type of Chinese food we are used to... this was the Closest so far!! Very tasty, good portions, fresh, full of flavor... my only suggestion is giving people the crunchy noodles with duck sauce in their takeout and dinner combo platters. We will definitely be returning though.
House of Leng is situated in a great location on the boardwalk. The menu has so many options it will take some time to decide if you dont have an idea of what you would like. There was a decent selection of import beers to choose from as well. Spacious booths, friendly staff, and prompt service for a last minute late night stop. I had the Mu Shu Chicken and it was great even though the plum sauce was a little spicy for me. All in all this was a great visit.
Never ordering from here again, reasons why:
