The atmosphere mimics a prohibition era but with a new twist! You can be casual or dress up and you’ll still feel IN PLACE.
You don’t order a drink. You tell them what you like and the bartenders make a craft cocktail. It’s a cool concept. However, one of my friends didn’t like his second drink. It was almost like the bartender made the same drinks each time for each person with just a different syrup flavor. We were looking for something completely different each time!
Now, for me, I loved my first drink and ordered the exact one again! 🩷

I hate writing negative reviews but unfortunately this is the worst experience I’ve ever had at an establishment. I made a reservation over a month ago for a party of 6 for my 30th birthday. I came with a 7th person and they said they could not seat us because we made a reservation for six.
We asked if we could fit into the same space because we were small people and there were couches not chairs so we would all be able to fit. They said no. Then I asked if we could have one person not order a drink if it was a drink limit and they said no.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want more business from a party when we were willing to fit in the same space and I was never given a reason and if wasn’t a fire code situation so I guess they didn’t want us? I asked them why more than 6 werent allowed when we were taking up the same amount of space and they did not give any reason.
Happy to spend my money elsewhere! If this bar is all about making cocktails based on mood, they need to perfect the mood “pissed off”
EDIT: Saw the response from the establishment and definitely a sassy bunch. We had an addition to the party that was very last minute, about 15 minutes before and I wasn't going to ditch a member so we figured if we fit on the couch it would be ok since it wasn't a fire restriction, but agree that the policy is listed on Resy on the website. I just think a business should handle their patrons better or at least give some justification. The alternative accommodation wasn't able to seat all 7 of us, which is why we were unable to stay, even though we would have fit in the space for the 6 person reservation on the couch.

Unique experience! There isn't a drink menu, instead you tell your server/bartender your favorite spirit and/or what you generally drink and they will create customize drink based on your preference. The ambience provides an intimate setting for a date or just catching up while grabbing a few drinks with friends. Highly recommended, just be sure to make a reservation just in case.

I accidentally found this bar traveling through Charlotte. I have never seen a bar this classy. And the drinks are made, with fresh squeezed ingredients in front of you. I have bragged about this place , so many times. I’ve had mixed drinks all over, and this bar serves by far the best mixed drinks I’ve experienced.

My only complaint is that we ordered charcuterie and everything came in the original plastic packaging, which i thought was so bizarre. I would've rather paid the same price to have it plated for us. Otherwise, I thought the vibe and the cocktails were amazing and our server was really attentive and helpful!

I had a fantastic experience at the cocktail bar! The atmosphere was vibrant, and the cocktails were truly amazing. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful, making great recommendations that enhanced our evening. It was the perfect spot for a date night, and we couldn't have asked for a better night out. Highly recommended . Btw, I love reading the realest of the responses to the reviews!! ???

This bar is special. Its a speakeasy with no menu, the bartender prepares a drink based off of your preferences. The vibes are incredible and my group loved every drink we got, 3 drinks for 3 different people. The service was fast, attentive, and not at all overbearing. The seating was comfortable and the decor was intentional. We arrived in an uber and took the rail home. Make a visit here a priority.

I’ve visited many bars in the area, but my experience at idlewild was by far the most upsetting. From the moment I walked in, I felt discriminated against and belittled by the staff. Their condescending attitudes and offensive comments made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, unlike anything I’ve ever encountered elsewhere.
No one should have to endure the treatment I received here. It’s incredibly disappointing that a place like this, which should be a safe space for relaxation and enjoyment, can make someone feel so condemned and small. I will never return, and I sincerely hope others don’t have to experience what I did.

Literally the WORST bar in clt !! the owner kicked us out for being on the phone when there was literally less than 3 people at the bar. OWNER IS VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL!!
