I used to love Idlewild in their original location where the The Ugly is now. Now that Idlewild is in the location next door where Fairweather was, it does not have the same ambience. Went to the new location for Idlewild two weeks ago and just don’t like it anymore. I’m truly disappointed as I was always interested in going to Idlewild and now I just don’t care to go in the new spot. It also had a bad smell to it. Smelled of smoke. Like an old hole in the wall bar smell where smokers would have been.

Easily the best cocktail bar in Charlotte (and quite possibly the best I've ever been to in general, and I travel a lot). The competition in Charlotte isn't even close. There are places with great cocktails, but nowhere else can I get a phenomenal cocktail 100% of the time. Idlewild never misses

Really a unique experience. The mixologists here are so talented and the service is amazing. If you love a great cocktail, there is nowhere better to go. The new location is very nice, well decorated, and comfortable. Would highly recommend for a date night. They also have snacks available for very reasonable prices if you need a little something between drinks.

I visited the bar with my family after walking in through the separate entrance of the adjacent sister bar and taking advantage of open seating on a larger couch only to be met with blatant discrimination based on my race, despite being a homeowner in the neighborhood. After sitting down and enjoying conversation with my family, the hostess insisted that we move to a smaller table to accommodate a larger party despite there being no consistent large party traffic and no upcoming reservations. I offered a compromise that we would happily move if a large party arrived as we were already seated and enjoying a drink and conversation. The hostess agreed.
After which, the bar staff passive aggressively ignored us and disregarded us by not offering to serve us additional drinks or water in the 45 minutes that we sat there, during which no large party arrived. It was not until I went up to the bar to order another drink that the bartender and hostess raised their frustration that we didn’t move in an aggressive tone in order to preserve a hypothetical option of a “large party” that may or may not come into the bar under the guise of “rules” and “respect for the staff.” It became increasingly apparent that the reason for this treatment was our race, as other patrons of different racial backgrounds were promptly served and attended to as we did not disrespect the staff, knowingly violate any rules, or have any malicious intent.
Further, staff that choose abstract hypothetical seating charts over customer service with gracious patrons aren’t demonstrating job competency mastery or even ethical values. Such actions not only tarnish the reputation of your establishment but also perpetuate systemic racism within our community. Discrimination in any form has no place in society, let alone in a business that is meant to provide a welcoming environment for all.

Wow ! So …. We came here from Atlanta. The front desk lady listed this at the top of her list. I said, idlewild like OutKast ? She said yeah like that lol! That’s already a vibe. We pulled up and thought we were at the wrong place we didn’t see any windows. But when we got here the hostess Kennedy turned out to be our waitress was MARVELOUS!! I’m here now lol writing this review. Her memory was impeccable. She was gracious. As an ex bartender all I can say is W O W ! I am blown away by how accurate and precise these drinks were. Not to even get me started on the speak easy vibe. Definitely ended our valentines on the perfect note!

Took my family from out of town in for a few cocktails and had a wonderful time. The hostess was attentive and kind, server was extremely knowledgeable, and the bartender Mason was top tier in his knowledge, engagement, and execution.
