Love the whole snapper and stewed chicken. The beef patties are incredible too. Both the plantains and cabbage are cooked perfectly and have such rich flavors. We come here all the time and I'm a huge fan. The owner is so sweet. I wish they delivered or offered online order pick up, but I'll come either way!

The absolute best Caribbean food Ive had in Charlotte, and I've lived here for 8 years. The owner is such an amazing chef, the flavors are incredible, it's so rich and flavorful, and it's always such a treat to eat here. My favorite dish is the whole snapper with spicy gravy, or the coconut curry salmon. Absolute fire, no notes, one of my fav restaurants in the city.
Real and honest.
I am new to Charlotte and decided to try this place because of the reviews and honestly, I was very disappointed. I paid $40 for an ox plate and the oxtails were overcooked and literally had no flavor. I even asked for extra gravy and it was like the gravy with oil or something. Nothing on the plate had any flavor. It was crazy. Even the cabbage was terrible. There was no flavor. I was really disappointed. But I won’t be going back. That was probably the worst Jamaican food I have ever had in my life and all honesty. Maybe I taught them on a bad day I don’t know, but it was terrible.
YEESSSS! This is a true jamaican tuck shop.If you grew up knowing what that is then you know this place is the real deal. Authentic Jamaican food finally!
We drove over 40 mins to get to this place just on just a feeling I had. I was first interested in this place from one picture of the fried chicken with that kiss of orange color and was encouraged by the over 4.6 in google reviews. I dont try any restaurant in NC unless it 4.5.
Other Jamaican restaurants in the Charlotte area are stop gaps ( imitations) until you end up here for the first time. Everywhere else in NC we have been will be watered down versions of the real deal. The owners of those franchises probably leave work and come to this place for dinner.
There is not seating just order and takeout. Pro advice - call ahead for all pickup orders. This is as close to the best food place in Kingston I know you can get.
Dont worry about portion size or the meat quality just get the large size. Portions are large very hefty. Meat quality is so high I have not seen this in NY or FL. I think they only sell that plate size , as they should. Close your eyes and hand over the money because its worth it.
What I'll sign off on for the menu here that is also as close to Grandma level Sunday dinner worthy you can get-
Fried chicken with rice and peas and oxtail gravy , raw veg ( salad)
Oxtail with rice and peas and raw veg
Curry goat with rice and peas and raw veg.
If you want down home cooking this is it. Just one excellent chef making authentic Jamican food. Dont hesitate JA peeps this is it! Cant wait to try the escvovitch Snapper next time.

As a die hard Jamaican that loves the authenticity of my countries food, this little hole in the wall checked every box of authentic Jamaican food that isn’t Americanize. Prices are fair and the portion is enough to last you for 2 meals. I will definitely be making this my go to Jamaican spot from here on out.
Big up!

My wife & I were in town for a show at the Bluementhol Theater and were craving some authentic Jamaican food, so we googled and went with the highest rating out of 7 Jamaican restaurants. My wife is Jamaican, so she knows what’s authentic! The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! We had oxtails, stewed chicken, plantains and beef patties. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They truly value their customers! We will definitely be back! Thanks for making our stomachs happy 😋😋. Keith & Marsea
One of the best Jamaican / Caribbean cuisine experiences I've had in Charlotte, NC - Hands Down! Highly recommend the Jerk Chicken and brown stew chicken were so good we had to spin the block for more!
One area of improvement for me would be the ability to call in and order since a lot of dishes are made to order. But trust me - it's worth the wait.

$20 for Oxtail
It was delicious!!!! Highly recommend. The beef patties let me tell you … best of my life !!! She made everything fresh and it took a while but just cause she wanted to make sure it was perfect. Worth every penny, it’s a must try !
Fresh. Hot. Fast. Them plantains.
This is truly the most authentic Jamaican food I’ve had in Charlotte. I ordered snapper, and while the wait was about 20-25, it was worth it. I prefer my food made to order, and seeing them chop the onions, tomato, thyme and peppers fresh was amazing. It’s not real if you don’t catch yourself before you bite the all spice!!
Rice was good and the couple running the establishment were very friendly. Will definitely be back.
Authentic and made fresh!!!!!!
