Ken Cooks (SoulFood Restaurant)

Been here at Ken Cooks, placed my order @ 2:29. I was told 20/30 mins. I asked @ 3pm no food. I asked again @ 3:30, it's clearly been 1hr. So I politely asked for my money back. I hear Ken in the background call my name. The fat guy in the front opens the register, I stated isn't my order ready now, he said I just refunded you. Ok sir I've been waiting over 1hr now.... his reply, yeah we busy & you're the only one complaining..... Interesting
The food here is good but not worth the wait or horrible customer service. In addition they don't take orders over the phone and it's cash only..... I've met Ken before, she's very nice but the customer service sucks and they need a better system.

The staff were professional, courteous, and provided prompt service. The food was delicious and they give you an abundance. I had enough for two meals. It was pleasant setting with a comfortable music volume where you could talk without yelling. LOVED IT👍

If you’re looking for some soul food home cooking then look no further! I don’t know how this restaurant doesn’t have more reviews and higher ratings. Luckily I found it and glad I did! Cash only but an ATM is inside the restaurant ($2.50 charge). We ordered our food and was prepared fresh. Customer service was great and friendly staff. Drove over 3 hours and will do it again! Will definitely be back and have family come with us. **Videos and photos are legit from my order**

Biggest pork chops I ever had in NC great place, got to go back. I thought I was in Texas and the whiting where huge and taste great too

Our dining in experience and also our takeout experience. were both amazing, friendly staff. Great customer service, and the cook words can't describe I am very new to Charlotte, North Carolina and the food here is definitely a 10 out of 10 and I can’t stress enough. Customer service as well..

The food is amazing well cooked.

Can’t rate the food cause i never sat down to eat. And probably wont come back or recommend anyone either. The lady was extremely rude demanding Apple Pay be sent to a random number written on an envelope… or Cash but there’s a sign that says they also accept Google pay and she kept screaming that she didn’t know how to work it. Yet the two young ladies who she sent to work the register were so sweet and patient trying to explain to the lady whom they called “grandma” that it literally was the same thing. Terrible experience overall. Will never come back.

I can’t put into words how amazing the food is here! My boyfriend got the pork chops plate and I got a plate of stew beef. My God everything was so good. Seasoned to perfection. Portions were plentiful. Service was immaculate. The owner is such a sweet woman. We will be back!

Great food great vibez🥰

My family just came to Charlotte from Maine and New Hampshire for the night before heading south and found this restaurant online. It is the best soul food I have ever had and the amount of food you get for the money was incredible! The staff was amazing! Well worth the trip if you are anywhere close to Charlotte!!

This was TERRIBLE food. While the staff was very friendly, the food left much to be desired. The chicken was fresh, but way under seasoned and one of my wings still had some feathers. I asked if the rice came with gravy, and the person taking my order told me no, but it was seasoned rice …it was definitely plain white and NOT seasoned. And look at the picture of the “macaroni and cheese”. They are literally covering noodles in velveeta - not an egg or milk in sight. And to charge almost $20?! Speaking of paying, they also don’t take cards - only cash, cash app, Apple/ Google pay. It makes no sense to be in a major southern city and cannot find decent southern food ANYWHERE!

By the way, please use some of the money you’re saving from this non-existent Mac and cheese to purchase a new exhaust fan/vent for your kitchen. I had to throw my clothes straight into the washer because I reeked of fried food when I got home.

I have lived in Charlotte 4 years and this is by far the best food I have had here. The portions are plentiful and the prices are extremely reasonable. And the customer service is top notch. You have a customer for life in me.

I love this place. Very clean as well. A rush hour hit while we were there, but the owner stayed calmed and got to work. Multitasking at its finest. The pork chop was amazing. The fried chicken and collard greens could use more seasonin (My opinion). The cabbage was good and the yams was AMAZING. The salmon was ok. Could’ve been drizzled with something to give it more texture. Overall, I give it a 4/5 and I’ll definitely be back
