Ken Cooks (SoulFood Restaurant)

I walked into this place and I feel like I time traveled. I have been to many soul food restaurants. But this is the first time my Soul ate. When I say each bite took my soul on a journey. It took me back in time to child hood and good times. The music alone can make you feel like you’re back in your child hood. The service was amazing I had to actually hug the cook and meet her for myself, the atmosphere was breathtaking. Ken’s was 10/10 Highly Recommend, MUST try again.

Well after seeing videos and hearing the negative actions of this place i decided to visit i had no negative experience the food was good and ms ken if that's your name no disrespect hold it to the head not the heart but anyways I really enjoyed it i have no complaints can't judge a book by its cover and if there's a discrepancy from future patrons no need to be negative and talk bad about our people from her tude it was pleasant and warm so no im not trying to hype this place up but just from my experience will definitely be back and I hope if I do have an issue we can talk privately and not get all upset I will never post or belittle a person trying to live survive and making it or try to kill there dream ms ken your awesome in my book keep up the good work and remember to keep smiling and spoil the day for some grouch 😃 tiiiing!!! The worst customer service experience ever

Had 2 meals a they were good. Service was a little slow at the front for takeout. More training for the staff would go a long way. Owner show appreciation for your business which is nice. Music needs to be at a lower volume since this is not a lounge. I will be back to try another menu item. They now accept credit and debit cards with tap to pay.

The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

So I ordered my food on DoorDash and I didn’t know it was close to closing time. The only negatives I have for this place is they forgot my shrimp and it made me sad. The potato salad is sooooo good! The broccoli casserole was a little salty but it was also good. Greens were delicious and the fried chicken was just fried chicken. Tasted like a Sunday dinner on a Friday night honestly and I’ll definitely be ordering again because I have to know what the shrimp taste like!

I was treated to Ken Cooks & it was my first time eating at her establishment.

✨In my opinion, when you first walk in you get a warm, friendly greeting. The host was a gentleman. Always a plus for me.

✨The inside was a whole vibe. I like the decor. The tables were spaced out. You can't help but talk to people. Everyone, was speaking very highly of Ken food. It was giving cozy.

✨Now the food- I had the broccoli & cheese, Collard greens, Mac & cheese and Green Beans. The Mac was just ok. Overall, a 9 out of 10.

✨ Bonus: there was a wait but it was worth it. The food was fresh and hot. I would definitely go back. Ken was working hard in the back. I did like that she politely says the name that's up next.

If you haven't been, definitely support ...

Exceptional First Experience — A Must-Stop Every Time

My boyfriend and I visited Ken’s Cooks for the very first time back December 14, we were traveling from an we were traveling from a football tournament in Florida and stopped in North Carolina on our way back to New Jersey and from the moment we walked through the door, the experience was absolutely amazing. We were warmly greeted right away, and the customer service remained excellent throughout our entire visit.

Our order was taken smoothly, and the staff made sure to check in with us to confirm everything was correct and that we were enjoying our meal. That attention to detail truly made us feel valued.

The food was absolutely out of this world—seasoned to perfection and full of flavor. Every bite was incredible. You can tell real care and pride goes into the food here.

This will definitely be one of those places that anytime we are traveling through or in the area, we will make it a point to stop. Thank you, Ken’s Cooks, for such a wonderful first experience. We will absolutely be back!

The atmosphere and food was absolutely amazing. Everything I got was delicious, chicken and shrimp was juicy, collards were amazing and so was the potato salad and Mac. Owner and hostess were very polite as helpful and welcoming.

🔥 Absolutely amazing food! 🔥
The meat is incredibly tender and literally melts in your mouth. The sauce is rich, flavorful, and perfectly soaked into the rice. The portion size is very generous, everything tastes fresh, and you can tell it’s cooked with care. The fries are crispy, not greasy, and a perfect side.
Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. 10/10 — highly recommend and will definitely be back! 🙌🍽️

Came here with my Dad after seeing this place on TikTok and the food was outstanding. The fact we are going back for our second trip this Saturday says something. Strawberry lemonade is 10/10 everyone was very polite and helped us out. Can’t wait to go back and would definitely recommend to anyone flying into Charlotte.
