We had an early dinner at Belle Helene one of our favorite restaurants in the Uptown section of Charlotte, NC. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and presented with menus. While pursuing the menu our wait person stopped by to fill our water glasses. My husband's starter was their French onion soup which he loves. I selected the tomato bisque accompanied by a mini cheese sandwich. Both were delicious! Boeuf Bourguignon with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms and potatoes was hearty, tender. My husband was a happy man and as a bonus it yielded a lunch the next day. I chose bouillabaisse which was disappointing in a number of ways: 1) the bowl was way too small, 2) the broth was tasty but lukewarm, 3) a huge piece of fish (Cobia) dominated the bowl and 4) in my view it needed more mussels, clams, scallops. I did not send it back as we had a very busy day and a 90 minute trip home. The net is I will order something else next time as their menu is loaded with lots yummy looking main courses.

Overall this is a beautiful establishment that has excellent food. The age of the restaurant is beginning to show in some areas, and I hope management is mindful of this. Overall I would recommend La Belle Helene for a nice meal with a special person(s) .

The wedge salad and French onion soup were wonderful, the entrees left something to be desired (we got the gnocchi and the duck confit). Dessert was delicious but a very small portion. It's beautiful inside but VERY loud. The acoustics are awful.

What a great restaurant! Ambience is perfect, we were seated in one of the private rooms (much to our delight) and our waiter Justin was so patient with our party, he deserves like 10 gold stars for putting up with us. The menu was great, it was so hard to actually choose a main from all the options so we relied on Justin's recommendations. The French Onion Soup was better than what I had in Paris, definitely a must order. The caviar topped deviled eggs were a hit also. If you're looking for a nice meal with attentive but not overbearing waitstaff, this is the place.

Nova was amazing!!! Really enjoyed chatting with her. Crab Louis was delicious but pricey. Haven't been able to get our favorite burgundy for a while... I'm sure it's tariff related 😕 Always love the ambiance... it's a gorgeous restaurant.

Very nice looking restaurant the food was just OK and the service was a little slow. I found it to be probably a little below average in terms of quality.

A very nice restaurant with upscale ambiance, nice entrees and good wine selection. The short rib was delicious. Our steak was a little over done and the escargot was not very good.

Such a beautifully enchanting restaurant! From the concept, to the food, to the drinks, and of course dessert, La Belle Helene is quite the little gem of uptown Charlotte. Absolutely loved the french onion soup! Also forget to save room for dessert, because the Le Citron is to die for!! 😍

The food, presentation and flavor were all amazing and so was our server Justin! We loved the seafood tower, flounder and chicken. The pastry biscuits were amazing as well!

Second trip just as great. Highly recommend. Between five people we've had everything on the menu and it's all fantastic.

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary! The restaurant was beautiful and the food was great! Our waiter, Phil, was very helpful and explained items on the menu and gave recommendations. The mussels and French onion soup were great. Beef bourguignon and duck confit were delicious and the crème brûlée was divine!

Overly salty and honestly awful. The heavily seasoned fries, were rock hard. I had to mention this to Steven, the server, several times during my meal. Literally few lukewarm ones tossed on top to cover it up. The arugula salad wasn’t fresh either; it was limp and soggy. The petite au chocolat had a dry, stiff texture, nothing creamy or soft about it. I’m extremely disappointed and honestly expected far better.
