Lakou Haitian restaurant

It was pricy but I would recommend the oxtails with red beans and rice with sweet plantains . The oxtail was so tender and good it's hard to hind some like that and they have a good passion Fruit lemonade. 10 out of 10 would recommend 👌 💯

Great food

Never been in-person only via UberEats…this is my third time ordering they seem to be pretty consistent with the portions and flavor. Every time I get my food it’s always still hot and fresh, so that’s greatly appreciated! 10/10 definitely recommend 💗

Wow, can’t believe I found this little gem in Charlotte. I am impressed. Let me first start by complementing the beautiful young lady taking orders. High level hospitality and customer service, whoever raised her, WELL DONE! 👏🏽 The food was simply a 10/10 and the price was right based on the large portion sizes. I will continue to visit this restaurant. The establishment was clean and well organized. The hibiscus lemonade was insatiable, I just couldn’t get enough; Next time I’m getting 2. The red snapper may have been the best I have ever had, or at least close to it. Thank you.

Honestly, it all started with the experience, being greeted from the owners the were very pleasant explained the menu, explained about the restaurant itself it felt like I was at home, kompa was playing, the ambience of the restaurant itself is very comforting, also to mention the bathroom, was immaculately clean and smelled so good, so from the first impression, 10/10.

The food omg, it was very close to how my mom makes hers, I had the Legume, with crab (crab is optional).
The food was fresh initially I planned on taking out but I had to sit in, the plantains were so fresh, and the plantain by far has been the best pillow I’ve had in ages.
The drink options were awesome, but the passion fruit juice, was very good a plus if you like light pulp.
I could say a lot more but I was very pleased.

LAKOU is one of THEE best establishments in Charlotte PERIOD. I am a Miami girl raised amongst Caribbean folks from all walks of life. Miami is known to be a melting pot of culture and cuisines. Ever since I moved to Charlotte (2yrs) I’ve been trying to find a taste of home everywhere I go and I was disappointed almost every time UNTIL I stumbled upon this beautiful place here A few months ago on a random Wednesday I placed an order on Uber eats and said “why not”. THE BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Not only did my plate feel HEAVY but the aroma of my meal was causing me to salivate. I was graced with the most deliciously tender, fall off the bone oxtails EVER. My rice was fluffy and fresh, my plantains were beautifully cooked and you already know my oxtails were swimming in that delicious gravy. I’m not one to leave reviews but Lakou can take my last dollar and I’d be grateful. I have tried their Griot & Haitian Mac and they are indeed chefs kiss. THEY SIMPLY DO NOT MISS & COULD NEVER DO ANY WRONG. Now after typing this decade long review I’m going to enjoy and devour my lovely plate of oxtails and thank God for this restaurant and its lovely people who help keep the place running. I am a Miami native and moved to Charlotte 3 years ago. When I was introduced to this restaurant by my daughter I was so excited to FINALLY eat GOOD AUTHENTIC HAITIAN FOOD!! For two days in a row I have ordered and each time the food was on point. KISS the chef please!!! Our NEW FAVORITE SPOT..

Their food is amazing, stands out from other Haitian cuisine I’ve tried, great customer service and a very clean restaurant. Love their oxtails, stewed chicken, and red snapper. You have to get extra stewed sauce

Food , Amazing. Quality, Amazing. Portion, Amazing. I’ve only visited this location on one occasion but when I did it was clean, the customer service was on point and food was good, authentic. For the past year I have ordered off Uber Eats and the quality has not changed. Thank you for all you do ! Highly Recommend 10/10
