LOVED the food!!! Absolutely needed it?? External environment is ok-ish (recommend going more during day-time hours), but inside you feel like you're at local a family diner. I have gone back more than once already so, definitely still worth it!!

I’ve had a coworker telling me to try this place out for a minute. I was working in the area so I finally decided to Uber eats a platter. It was a 2 piece dark meet special. This is what my chicken looked like. I had a drum & a breast, my drum was a little red but I ate around it because I didn’t think it was too bad. Something told me to open this one up, when I did this is what I saw. I was very disappointed. My stomach instantly turned when I seen it. Honestly wouldn’t try again, my coworker ordered a fish platter and it was good. However as a soul food restaurant, your fried chicken should never ever look like this.

Everything was great ,the flounder fish and whiting were great ? and the cakes ? mhummm!!!!! Delicious .double chocolate and pound cake. The staff were very nice and very friendly ? loved the place. Down to earth, real people.

The food was good and $17.00 isn't a really bad price for each dinner. However, it should at least be a meal. One small piece of fish isn't enough food for a grown adult. That size dinner shouldn't be priced more than $10.00. Needless to say, we won't be ordering again. I'm not dropping $50 for two people on dinner and still being hungry.

THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEEEEESSSSSSTTTT RESTAURANTS I HAVE BEEN TO IN A WHILE. The team was extremely nice and friendly. I called them at 5pm and let them know about 20+ of us would be coming between 6p-7pm. 28 of us arrived and they were so accommodating. Nobody had an attitude and they seemed very happy to serve our family. We literally took over the place that night. The food did take a little long but we all ordered different items at different times and everything was FRESH. We had the catfish, fried chicken, shrimp, chicken strips, gizzards, whiting and the sides mac&cheese, potato salad. yams, fries ....ummmm ummm good. All the food was EXCELLENT!! All 28 of us had no complaints. It was a breath of fresh air walking into this restaurant. This dinner was a highlight to our entire trip. It was MARVELOUS!!! I will def go back the next time I am in Charlotte.

I went there on Saturday early thinking it would be a better shot at getting something good and fresh as it's been hit or miss for awhile, a longggg while. It was awful. The macaroni tasted like noodles with cheese no salt, the cornbread dressing was mushy and the gravy was tasteless and very congealed looking. The brown gravy on the rice was tasteless and the baked chicken was definitely subpar. I was so disappointed I didn't even complain. I've tried to give them my business but it's just a failure time over time. It's food with no soul or salt for that matter. Good luck....

This should have been an indication to leave.Got our food, ordered 3 drinks but only got 2. Tables weren't wiped off.The most disappointing event, " a fake eyelash in my husband's food."I have the picture to prove it.Spent $100!Never again! I will never recommend this place.

La'Wan's is amazing! Yesterday, I had the catfish, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, roll, and sweet tea. Everything was super delicious! And the sweet tea reminded me of my grandmother's wonderful sweet tea from years ago. Everybody there is super nice and professional. This place is definitely southern cooking at its finest and now I really want to go back and try other things on the menu as well!

Food is not good. Cashier was very rude when I asked her did they fry my fish hard. She lied and told me it was when it wasn’t and the yams are canned yams not homemade. I will not be back and wouldn’t recommend anyone eat there if they’re looking for real soul food

Good food and friendly staff. I went for lunch and came back for dinner. I had the fried catfish and he had fried tilapia. We had cabbage, yams, collard greens and Mac and cheese. All were good. The greens are not from can.
