This neighborhood restaurant is truly a wonderful place. I enjoy the food and the friendliest staff. Nothing has changed over the 10yrs I’ve been going and I honestly appreciate the homeliness and familiarity that it maintains for the neighborhood.Even though I no longer live in the area, this place will always be on my must go list. Food is reasonably priced, place is clean and even the locals share a friendly smile.

Went to Maria's today with co-workers today. This place alway does lunch right. The place is old but don't let that deter you. The staff is friendly and the service was great. A server name Mary always remember me and always ask about my son. This place has home style food. The serving are big and its price nicely. I would recommend trying them out and get the hamburger steak.

1st time there after reading all the wonderful reviews, and will be the last time. Our server was HORRIBLE. I love to support local bussiness and decided to end a birthday celebration for my Husband with a nice brunch. We sat in the section with all the windows. There was a party of 6 already there waiting to place their order and a party of 2 gentlemen waiting to pay. A party of were seated shortly after us. Fast forward now 25 minutes later.. we were ALL still sitting there memorizing the menu by now, watching and waiting, while the tables sitting by the wall were getting their orders taken care of by another server. After seeing other tables getting service before us, my husband grabbed the attention of a man who walked by with drinks to another table who seemed to be a manager. He kindly brought our drinks and said he would get our server. Almost 10 minutes later, the server finally decided on a slow cameo entrance and graced us with her presence.She took our order and another table's 3 person order. The gentlemen trying to pay asked for the bill and with the enthusiasm of a sloth, she left and never came back with their bill. They ended getting up and going to the front to pay as they were complaining to the "manager" about the wait and lack of attention. The party of six was still waiting to be acknowledged which she never did. Fifteen minues later, she bring my husbands order out. 5 minutes later she brings me only half of my order. Then in a Slowpoke Rodriguez fashion, she continues to go back and foward with one plate a time, serving the third table with what she felt they should be eating and not what they ordered. In between the fiasco, i asked for syrup twice, and ended up asking the table next to us to use theirs. Also, someone for the party of 6 got up twice to seek service and someone other that our server finally decided to take their orders. 10 minutes later and after my husband finished his meal, she decided to bring the rest of my order along with the syrup that i no longer needed. By now, we had enough and were ready to go, so I did not eat it and took it home.I know this is an extremely difficult job, but being attentive goes a long was. This job is not for everyone, and this applies specialy to that young lady today. We understand it was busy, but her lack of concern and urgency did not help the situation. One of the gentlemen in the party of three was visible and verbally frustrated with the service and told me he has been coming here for 2 years, but after today, he was not coming anymore. Not a good way to leave a 1st impression.

This review is not to hurt nor be negative just to let the current and new customers to be aware. First, I drove from Mooresville NC this day. I eat here for breakfast a lot usually the food and customer service are top notch. My past visit last week Jan/2024 was not pleasant at all. My grits was watery with lumps, and I found a long hair in my food when biting into my food, I pulled the hair out of my mouth and off the food, I then placed it in my napkin, at this point it ruined my breakfast. I showed the waitress the hair in the napkin, it had a reddish brown tint to it and the waitress said it was not hers. She walked towards the register to the lady there an I’m assuming she mentioned it to her. At checkout nothing was done. I still left the waitress a tip because the grits and hair in my food wasn’t her fault. Is there anything else getting in the food served to customers? This restaurant usually is good on food and service I hope its reputation not changing for the worse. I personally own three businesses in the Charlotte regional area for over 20-years, so surely management or the owner(s) should carefully listen to their employees and customers when a complaint comes about, but this day it was completely ignored. Just look at your food carefully before eating it, if something not quite right, STOP, then get your waitress and bring your issue to their attention immediately, plus go yourself to speak to management.
