This is a nice Irish-style pub! They serve Guiness and Magners in proper European pints, which is kind of hard to find around Charlotte. The decor and menu both looked authentic too! Definitely one of the higher quality pubs in the area
Great Irish pub with lots of seating and great pours!!!

Easily the best fish and chips in Charlotte. Perfectly fried haddock with crunchy batter and lovely flaky fish. Nice chips, especially with malt vinegar and the tartar sauce is great.

Went when they were first newly open, so some hiccups with yhe service. The outside was slammed, and only 1 server, so we moved inside, and it was a way better experience. Our waiter person was very talkative and nice and super duper funny!
The food hit all points for an Irish-style pub and food fare. Appetizers were fried and good. Not greasy! The cheese leprechaun balls were great, and the sausage rolls were good. I dont have it pictured, but I got the fish sandwich and it was delicious! Fried golden brown, crispy, and hot!
Would visit again and try other options easily!

The opening week was extremely busy, but it's since calmed down. Both times we've visited, the food was great! The portion sizes are generous and the pricing is fair.
We appreciated the great service and recommendations during our last visit.

McHale’s Pub is the oldest Irish bar in Charlotte; and it still sets the gold standard for what a true Irish pub should be. The food is extraordinary—authentic, comforting, and easily some of the best Irish cuisine I’ve had anywhere in the U.S. You can tell how much thought goes into every dish and into their full seasonal menu, which changes occasionally without ever losing that classic charm.
The atmosphere is pure magic: warm, inviting, and full of life. The back bar hums with football matches on the TVs, the laughter of regulars, and even a few friendly dogs. And the Harry Potter–style floating candlelight ceiling gives the place a whimsical glow that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into something special.
Every member of the staff deserves a round of applause, but Maddy in particular is a star—warm, attentive, and genuinely delightful. The bartenders and servers are just as welcoming and knowledgeable, making every visit feel like coming home to friends.
Between the rich food, cozy decor, and top-notch hospitality, McHale’s isn’t just a pub it’s a Charlotte institution. If you haven’t been yet, go. And if you have, go again! It’s only getting better.

The food and atmosphere were great, but our server seemed rushed and a bit curt, and they came across as pushy and intense about a misunderstanding with the tip when a bit of kindness would have diffused the situation easily.

Love this pub , everyone should try the burger here. $26 for a beer, burger, and fries — the burger was juicy and had an amazing flavor.

Manager did not want to remake steak because they were running out of steaks. Chimichurri tasted like straight garlic. Slow service

Alice was the best server and the Guinness was beautiful. Lovely pints and lovely service. The only downside were the flies- eat inside to avoid. Will be back!
