Eric, the Chief Chef, was first-class and amazing. He called my significant other and me on the morning of our 7th anniversary planned dinner at the McNish House to walk us through the evening. This was truly an experience we will never forget.
The food and experience were wonderful. From the phone call from Chef Eric earlier in the day noting our food preferences and allergies to the wonderful hostess and service staff who took care of us for the whole evening. We had an incredible time for our 20th anniversary dinner. The courses were delicious I especially enjoyed the watermelon poke and sweet potato birds nest with quail egg. All the dishes were incredibly flavorful and looked amazing. Chef had made ingredient adjustments for me (Vegetarian) and my wife (Carnivore). The wine pairings were fantastic and our server had wonderful details to share on every pour that enhanced the experience. Ambiance was perfect with a lovely front window view, romantic lighting, music and crowd at just the right level to feel like you were both in a happening restaurant (not easy on a cold Thursday night) yet we're easily able to converse on 20 years together. This was our first time but we are already looking forward to an annual tradition next year!
This was our first time dining at the McNinch House in Charlotte. We went to celebrate a my fiancé's birthday. We were most interested in the dining experience here. We haven't found something like this in our few years living here and definitely wanted to try it. We love the fact that the menus change every day and are so tailored, also the wine pairings that are available. The day before our reservation, Chef O'Connor personally called to ask a few questions: allergies, preferences, add-ons, etc. and we really appreciated that! On a Wednesday night, it was nice and quiet with soft jazz playing in the background. We ended up having a whole room to ourselves looking out onto Church Street. I'm not familiar with the entire history of the house itself, but it's a beautiful Victorian home with opulent yet charming decor. The ambience truly can't be beat. From start to finish, the food was outstanding and each wine pairing made it that much better. We're personally giving extra points because my fiancé had been quietly hoping that his favorite meal would be included on the menu for the night, and it was! The Australian lamb lollipop were insane! We appreciated that for a few of the courses, Chef O'Connor came out to deliver food to the table, it was just a really nice personal touch. Also, Ariel provided amazing service from the moment she greeted us. She knew every detail of food and wine pairings, she presented us each bottle, and was so just friendly and personable. The service was at the perfect-pace, nothing felt rushed! Overall, it's an exquisite dining journey and it's definitely our new spot when we have a special occasion!
It was the best experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The food was fantastic, the staff were excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful. Every detail was thought of, and I can only hope to return again one day.
Our dining experience was 5 star. Chef Eric called us the afternoon before our evening dinner to introduce himself and find out about foods we like/dislike, dietary restrictions, and how many courses we preferred. It was definitely a nice touch. Food was incredible, along with a 5 star presentation and wait staff, and let's not forget the sommelier, who was extremely knowledgeable. We will definitely return to this restaurant for another incredible dining experience!
Unbelievable experience!! Food was amazing and the wine pairing only elevated it even more. Will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a memorable dining experience that did not disappoint on any level.
Amazing amazing amazing! Chef Eric is the best and his creations are so tasty and creative. Amazing experience will be coming back.
Chef Eric curated a wonderful experience for us! Highly recommend trying this place- It is beautiful and the service and food was top notch!!
Me and my wife went last night for the first time and everything was top tier. from service, to food and drinks. we'll definitely be back. This place has great family history and it holds a unique concept for the food industry.
Overall a great experience, the chef called before our meal to make sure there were no food allergies or specific items to avoid. We went for my husbands birthday and the service really made him feel special. The sommelier did an amazing job with the wine pairing and the food was delicious. The only disappointing dish was our dessert, it was poached pears and they were very crunchy, hard to eat and the dish itself was underwhelming. Every other dish was great!

Salvador was an excellent waiter - very courteous and attentive. Chef Erik O'Conner prepared absolutely delicious food and took the time to come to our table. Presentation was beautiful!!! It was a great experience!
I decided to make a reservation for a chefs tasting service as one last night out before the imminently approaching birth of our bay girl. Having toured the house in a search for a location of an office Christmas party a few years prior, despite it not being their chosen location, we had wanted to done here ever since. Our service did not disappoint. From start to finish, starting with a phone call from the chef earlier in the day of our reservation, the service and courses were exquisite. This was the best fine dining experience we've ever had in the Charlotte area.
In the past, dining at McNinch House has been reserved for only very special occasions; it is an expensive night out, so we do not do it very often. And in the past, it was always a special experience, well worth the cost. However, things have changed since our last visit. Now, the only dining option available is the Chef's Five Course Tasting Menu; you no longer have the option of ordering what you want to eat “a la carte” (so if you do not have a taste for a course of bone marrow, you are out of luck.) That was one disappointment. The service was very disorganized at first. Although two different staff members asked to take our drink orders, our cocktails were not served until after we finished the First Course of the meal. I will admit that we are not big fans of bone marrow; however, that course really did not seem to have any specific taste. And it is presented as a thin layer of marrow in a carved-out bone, over a bed of rock salt. So if your spoon dipped slightly below that thin layer of marrow, you would up with several crystals of rock salt in your mouth. It was just the two of us in our party. We each had one cocktail, and we shared a reasonably priced ($70) bottle of wine. Including the mandatory 20% Service Charge, our bill came to $678.00. It was a disappointing evening, and until the option of ordering our meal “a la carte” returns to McNinch House, we will not be dining there again.
Our server Wendy was phenomenal as was sommelier Nick and Chef Eric. A truly wonderful experience
The McNinch House is by far the best dining experience we've ever had in the U.S. From the moment we arrived, the staff was professional and welcoming. Dee Dee and Mitch, the owners, were amazing hosts and made us feel right at home with great conversation throughout the evening. The wine and champagne were outstanding and paired beautifully with each course. There was one dish that wasn't to my personal taste, though my girlfriend loved it, and without us even asking the chef prepared an entirely new course on the spot. That kind of service is truly next level. Everything about the evening was beautiful, from the food to the atmosphere to the people. If you're looking for an unforgettable fine dining experience in Charlotte, this is the place.
