One of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. The food is delicious, wine is on point, and the staff is amazing. Can't think of a better place to celebrate a special occasion.

This place is definitely a must for anyone visiting Charlotte. The food and service was beyond excellent! We travel a lot and try to hit as many restaurants as we can and this is definitely one of the best we've been to.

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. Possibly the finest restaurant experience in Charlotte - particularly if you are a wine lover. And certainly one of the top 5 restaurants we've ever experienced anywhere.

Amazing trip back in time surrounded by beautiful antiques in a century plus stately old home. Food was delicious, highest quality fare with excellent service. A real treat for a special occasion!!

Copied from my other account that I am closing out to consolidate all here. A truly wonder place for upscale special intimate dining in NC's Queen City. "A rather pricey experience but wonderful for romantic special occasion / dinning / date / celebrating. Two 4 course meals with wine came to $550. -- In home built by the Vanderbilts. Residence of Charlotte Mayor McNinch back in 1890s. His ancestors renovated the house and with it did it historically correct. Original glass in the windows, warbly. Authentic touches. Routinely rated amongst America's best restaurants. The kind of sweat one's. They remedied with Martini's much better matching our desire. Appetizers and palate cleansing treats in between. Some most food was stellar and some just good have had better. The Fillet was good but not especially seasoned or tender so have had better experience elsewhere. But for the price it should be best in class. Everything else was stellar especially the service. The sommelier was pleasant, explained much with enthusiasm and professionalism. Wines were perfectly paired. I would definitely consider returning to celebrate something special."

By far one of the best food experiences I've had in Charlotte to date. From the staff, to the ambiance, to the food...everything about the McNinch house had class.I made an early evening dinner reservation and chose to do the Chef's tasting with wine pairing. My server was Terrell Johnson who is also the lead Somm. I loved that he gave a little history about the house prior to diving into the menus. He listened to all our preferences and paired our wines perfectly to every single course. His knowledge is so vast and his service was impeccable!!!The stars of the show (wine/food) for me were the following:Chenin Blanc from IndiaPinot Noir from South AfricaReising from Germany (dessert)Artichoke and Leek soupPork cheeksRosemary & Dijon crusted rack of New Zealand lamb

We went to McNinch House for a special occasion. This is an experience that exceeded my expectations. As someone who is well traveled and has eaten in numerous dining establishments (30+ countries and 49 US states), this is a place that could compete for a nomination in James Beard awards in my opinion. The service, food, wine, and staff was excellent. The attention to detail was exceptional. Plates, silverware, and glasses were meticulously polished and tied to the design cues of the era. A step back in time to the fine dining experience of the early 20th century, with more modern cooking techniques and products including the wine pairing. Overall a great experience, even more so for someone who appreciates early 20th century fine dining (I'm looking at the Titanic fan crowd).

Updated 2/2024:We’ve been coming to The McNinch House for special occasions for 12 years now & are consistently 150% satisfied. This was our first visit since the passing of Wesley, their long-time sommelier, which was sad. He was such an important part of the McNinch experience. HOWEVER, his role is being admirably filled by Terrell, whose knowledge of wines is equally impressive, and whose debonair professionalism makes him a fitting successor. The 6 course Valentines Day special with paired wines was SUPERB.Absolutely AMAZING New Year's Chef's Tasting Menu. To celebrate the end of an amazing year with my wife, this was perfect. The service is friendly and excellent, the food was EXQUISITE, superb wines, beautifully decorated..........really, this is one of the finest restaurants in Charlotte. Thank you to everyone at The McNinch House Restaurant for a fabulous New Year's Eve dinner!

Best restaurant if you don’t eat and drink!Meals are pretty average, have either too much salt or sugar in it. Half of the wine is good, another half is not balanced, with remaining fermentation unfinished- with strong decayed hay on a nose and palate, some wine is for pizza only (Rioja), but was paired with “Haute cuisine” duck breast mistakenly. Sugar vodka or sweet wine (as they call it) with 30+ degrees of alcohol closed the show. The overall aftertaste - give me back a thousand dollar spent! Even a fraction of it, really.

The staff at mcninch house was excellent! Attentive but still gave us space to be together and chat. We had a whole room to ourselves which was incredible, and got to sit by the window and watch people pass by with their dogs. The food was excellent and each wine that was paired went great. We left stuffed! It was such a cozy and neat dinner experience. The house is beautiful and the ambience is as well. 10/10!

Simply the best fine dining restaurant I have ever been to. So sad to hear about Wes. But happy to know Mitch and everyone are keeping Ellen's legacy going.

A completely delightful experience on every level, without exaggeration. The sommelier was a fantastic addition to our experience, and his pairings we absolutely perfect, and made the chef's handiwork a thrill. What a special treat to have this place in our city.

Our first visit was a lovely experience. The menu choices, the wine and food pairing perfect for each course, and the intimate dining experience. A true Queen City treasure in the heart of Uptown.

I regret not sharing my thoughts on the McNish House sooner. Perhaps I thought I'd save it for my next visit, perhaps I thought there would be a "next visit". Somehow life got in the way, and my experience at the McNish House became nothing more than a faint memory.Today I regret hearing of the passing of Mr. Anthony Wesley. More so than the food, the people are what truly makes an experience memorable. Mr.Wesley did an impeccable job taking me through a culinary journey, with every facet paired with the right wine. The gentleman had a certain ease and elegance about him that it's hard to match. To say that he was a connoisseur is an understatement. The food was as exquisite as the presentation, without the pompous flare that most "high end wannabes" are known for today.God speed, Mr. "Wes"
