The beef chow fun is amazingly bland and might as well be called noodle chow fun considering it was almost entirely noodle. Hardly any flavor, nor beef. The server actually recommended it and when he asked me what I think, I said it’s not great. He offered to send it back and get a replacement, but I never send food back because who knows what goes into your replacement meal after that. I hardly ate any of it. My wife’s bang bang chicken was good but they should be ashamed for the quality of their fried rice, especially considering there’s an up-charge for it. It was so basic, it might as well have been plain white rice. The boba and desserts are excellent though. We’ve been here multiple times, but I don’t think we’ll be coming back if this is what it’s like now.
I can confidently say their roasted duck is the best in North Carolina! I live just three minutes away, and whenever I’m unsure about what to eat, this place is always my first choice!

Chelsea was awesome! She recommended the ombré taro bobo milk which was 10/10. The entire restaurant was very clean. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve eaten here several times over the past few years. I have dined in and picked up for lunch. It is always fast, friendly service and so delicious. I have tried several of their dishes, the beef chow fun is my favorite. Their boba teas are excellent! One of the best restaurants in the area in my opinion.

Cast iron chicken and sizzling tofu were great, rice was a little hard chew and tofu was too deep fried though. Too many flies in the patio during lunch time, wish we were told about that. Service is certainly very good.
Vegetarian options: Any meat can be replaced with tofu.

The food was delicious, and our waitress Chelsea was very gracious to us, especially when it came to entertaining our 1-year-old daughter! We would come back to Open Rice in a heartbeat!

My sister and I were out shopping and decided to stop at Open Rice Blakeney for lunch. We were seated immediately and our server, Chelsea, checked in with us for a drink order almost as soon as we sat down. After flipping through the menu, and basically wanting to try everything on it, we decided to order a sampling of items from the Street Food menu. We chose the Crispy Spicy Tofu, Bok Choy, Salt and Pepper Fried Chicken, and a side of Fried Rice. All four dishes were brought to our table within minutes of placing our order. Everything was steaming hot with nice presentation. We agreed that the tofu was among the best either of us had ever had. The batter was fried to crispy perfection and the tofu had a lot of great texture and retained a bit of firmness. The sauce was delicious and mild, with the spice coming from the peppers. So if spicy isn’t your thing, this is still a great choice. Just skip the peppers. The bok choy was prepared simply and cooked to perfection. The garlic was present without being overpowering. The fried chicken was crunchy and delicious with just the right amount of salt and pepper and the accompanying sauce really complemented it. We added the fried rice on a whim and when we asked, Chelsea happily offered that it could be made without eggs. It had delicious smoky sesame flavor and was also cooked perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the portions, expecting to really just have enough for us to try each dish but we both had more than enough and there was even some left to take home. And for around $32 plus tip, it was more than reasonably priced. Additionally, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, and Chelsea was particularly attentive, knowledgeable, and really friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat.

So this is a tough review for me to write. I absolutely loved my beef bulgolgi but my boyfriend’s Pho was honestly not very good. It was bland and the beef had a weird texture. Our waitress Esther was super sweet and knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions quickly and was always near by. I would definitely want her as my waitress again. The bill was very pricey for food that we didn’t absolutely LOVE. But again I loved my beef bulgolgi and we will be back to try a different dish rather than the Pho. The manager was nice and apologized for it not being great but no refund. Didn’t expect one though as we did order it and wanted it to begin with. Oh and the spicy edamame was great too.
