I order take duck two to three times a week. The duck is good (though expensive). My biggest problem with them is they are closed quite often. When they have events, they close to the public instead of still accepting takeout orders (as other restaurants accept takeout orders when they have special events).

Yum dim sum, carts on Sunday!
I've grown up eating at Los Angeles Chinatown every week and I can absolutely say, OPEN RICE is 11/10 stars. EVERYTHING is made to perfection. We had the shrimp dumplings, char siu bbq pork buns, chicken fried rice, half crispy duck with baby bok choy..... it was a transport in time and I couldn't believe this restaurant was here in Charlotte. I didn't have much of an appetite when we got there because our visit was on a whim, but I would've ordered way more than we did. There was ample space and I didn't realize there was 2nd level seating. The furniture, decor, kitchen, everything was pristine and classy. The waitresses and host were quick to seat us and take our orders. Nowadays, it's hard to find efficient workers who care about what they do. Here, we experienced just that and we will be telling everyone about this place. We will be back and again, thank you for food and ambiance. Thank you Jesus!

We live in Denver and have no dim sum spots so this is by far the BEST one that ALWAYS come back too. Everything we order is spectacular and the service is amazing. I wish it was closer to us but it is worth the drive.

Loved everything here. The dim sum here was absolutely amazing – fresh, flavorful, and totally worth it. Every dish we tried was spot on, with authentic flavors.
The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole dining experience even better. If you’re craving delicious dim sum or just want to try a place where everything tastes incredible, this is definitely the spot.

I’ve been meaning to try this place out for a year and finally decided to go during Labor Day weekend, of course 😅 I got several items since dim sum is offered, and the boba tea. I usually get sesame chicken, because it’s a staple at most Asian restaurants, and the true test is if it tastes good. This was cooked exactly right with light breading, just enough sauce and not too hard or soft for chicken texture. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again!! It’s exactly what I was craving!

After searching in vain for authentic Chinese food here in Charlotte we tried Open Rice and was so pleasantly surprised- the food is authentic, delicious and the portions plentiful- an outstanding value - all in all an excellent dinning experience- highly recommended if you want real Asian food - plus if you want Americanized dishes they have things like General Tso’s Chicken and the like. We plan to add Open Rice to our regular rotation.

The service here is very poor. The waitress knew very little about the menu. She never came to refill drinks or inquire about the food. The entrees were nasty, as well. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, but they only had three tables seated. Never again.
Love this place. The dim sum is so delicious. Its better to go with a group of people to try more plates and share.
