Got a plain grilled cheese & tomato soup. Tomato soup was orange, liquidy, and tasted closer to a curry than any sort of tomato soup. The grilled cheese contained cheddar cheese and parsley throughout. It is not hard to mess up a grilled cheese & tomato soup but this was not good.

A little overpriced in my opinion, that's my only critique. The sandwiches are great but the tomato soup.....I could drink that ish with a straw. Even when I order sandwiches from other places at Optimist I come to Papi Queso to get a bowl of soup. It's $5 for a smallish bowl which seems a few $ overpriced.
Service is great, and they actually have cool bar seating there which most of the other tenants do not.

The service was phenomenal, the food was amazing, and my idea of grilled cheese has been changed forever.
My wife and I ate at the counter. We enjoyed the texas grilled cheese and the best fries I've had since moving to Charlotte (and that's before we dipped them into a garlic aoli that was so good, I'm afraid to learn the recipe).
Jordan took excellent care of us, treating us more like *people* than customers, and providing a welcome oasis in the chaos of Optimist Hall. I felt like I was in an old comfortable diner.
In summation: the simple, but perfectly prepared food, extremely personable staff, and the amazing Frosé provided a wonderful dining experience. I know we will return to try more of their menu.

Went today and had their Cubano grilled cheese and it was phenomenal! I don't know whose idea it was to create this deliciousness but they need a raise and promotion! The sandwich was perfect: tender pork, sliced ham, a deliciously tangy/tart mustard sauce and the best homemade pickles that still had their crunch! The balance of flavors and textures were perfection! I think it's a limited flavor so I highly recommend you go and get one!

When we came here in 2020 it’s amazing food. The regular grilled cheese was delicious-they had a cheeseburger grilled cheese equally delicious-we came back 2025 and not the same as it was in 2020 - nothing was the same for flavor or the service the people did not know what they were doing. And. Is they add parsley to the grilled cheese. Not good for kids. Just overall not the same restaurant it was in 2020!

Lady working there had the audacity to violently snatch the menu out of my two year old son at the bar counter while waiting for our food without any regards for me as the parent standing right there. She could had easily brought the attention to me. Instead she stopped midway taking an order of another customer to do this. Her manager watched the entire thing. Disgusting.

This is located at the Optimist Hall Food Court. I ordered the Mac Melt with fries and a drink. It was very filling. Presentation was amazing and the employees are kind and helpful.
I spent about $20 for a meal. Fries are not included with grilled cheese sandwich option. Ordering was easy and I gave them my number and was alerted when my food was ready.
Love Optimist Hall because of the indoor and outdoor seating options. They have different food shops and little shops (stationary, plan shop). I enjoyed coming here twice in a week.

I doordash at this place at least two or three times a week they're perfect never had a bad sandwich and reading the story I was glad to hear it we need more people like this in Charlotte I just wish you had a frequent card so I don't have to pay so much every time I pay I bet I'm eating eight sandwiches every 2 weeks but I love them
