5-Star Dinner Review of Peppervine – Charlotte, NC
Tucked into SouthPark’s Piedmont Town Center, Peppervine delivers an exceptional dining experience that seamlessly blends culinary artistry with warm hospitality.
Ambiance & Atmosphere
The contemporary, art-filled interior exudes sophistication without pretension. The open kitchen offers a glimpse into the culinary craftsmanship, while the mezzanine lounge and curated artwork create a chic yet inviting setting. Despite a bustling crowd, the acoustics are thoughtfully designed, ensuring conversations remain intimate.
Culinary Highlights
Peppervine’s progressive American menu emphasizes locally sourced, seasonal ingredients presented through globally inspired small and large plates. Standout dishes include the General Tso’s Cauliflower—crispy tempura florets glazed with a tangy orange sauce—and the melt-in-your-mouth yeast rolls, baked to order with Maldon salt. The 24-Hour Short Rib, served with potato mousseline and bordelaise, showcases the kitchen’s ability to elevate comfort food to fine dining.
What to wear
For Peppervine in Charlotte, a smart casual to business casual dress code is ideal, with some guests opting for slightly dressier attire due to the upscale ambiance.
🔹 Recommended Attire for Peppervine:
For Women:
• Stylish blouse or dressy top with tailored pants or a skirt
• A chic dress or jumpsuit
• Heels, dressy flats, or fashionable boots
• Accessories kept elegant and understated
For Men:
• Collared shirt or button-down (a blazer is a nice touch but not required)
• Dress slacks or chinos
• Closed-toe dress shoes or clean loafers
• No tie needed, but it wouldn’t feel out of place
🔸 What to Avoid:
• Athletic wear (sweatpants, gym shorts)
• Flip-flops or overly casual sneakers
• T-shirts with loud graphics or logos
• Ripped or distressed jeans
While it’s not a formal restaurant, Peppervine’s refined setting makes it the kind of place where you’ll feel more comfortable—and match the vibe—if you’re dressed with a little polish. Think date night or upscale dinner with friends rather than super casual.
I was here for dinner with family in late December, after Christmas, 2024. The holiday vibe in the area was spot on!
Peppervine restaurant in the South Park neighborhood of Charlotte, NC is a wonderful and relaxing dining experience. Located just a couple minutes from the South Park mall, the restaurant has the class and sophistication of the area.
The atmosphere is upscale, yet chill with a relaxing lighting scheme and soft, sort of Euro-style music that doesn't overpower the room. And you can choose from table seating or sit at the bar which has very comfortable seating.
Started with the salted Yeast Rolls and they were fresh out of the oven and they will melt in your mouth. The rolls are enjoyable with or without butter.
Tried the 24-hour Short Rib at the suggestion of the bartender who was very helpful with selecting items that you should try.
But the meal came full circle with the perfect dessert. Tried the Pot de Creme butterscotch dessert and it was life changing. That's how delicious it was. It's worth just going there for that dessert. The flavors and textures in it created a Symphony for the tastebuds.
The restaurant also features a full bar so you get just about any wine or alcoholic beverage you care for.
The service was excellent. It was fast, friendly and accurate ...a great part of the dining experience. They make you feel like family and friends. Thanks to Melissa the bartender.
The restaurant is located on the ground floor so wheelchair access is good for anyone who needs it. The also have an upstairs level.
There is parking on the street but is limited to one hour. However, there is a parking garage just steps away from the restaurant.
Peppervine restaurant is definitely a place to return to and we definitely will do that to try more menu items like their Shrimp Pasta dish and others. 5-star for sure.
Katherine and Tommy always make our experience at Peppervine unforgettable! We feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of each time we visit. They’re consistently attentive, warm, and thoughtful in the way they engage with guests and it makes all the difference. We always leave looking forward to the next time!
Peppervine is spectacular from the service to the meal, everything is 5 stars! The food here never disappoints, and they regularly rotate in new dishes. The bison pasta is one of my favorite dishes on the menu, and the homemade bread is a must-try.
try to respect the hours offered on the website 5pm to 9pm question de principe thank you
My wife and I recently dined here for her birthday. First time guests here.
We checked in 30min before our reservation and they were able to get us sat then. Service was great! Atmosphere was elegant.
The food was delicious.
Those yeast rolls were incredible!!
They were a little undercooked and a touch doughy, but we were ok with that.
Like a lot of restaurants, they take your full order up front and course it out. I’m fine with that if it’s done properly.
Our entree touched the table before our appetizer (mussels) - which was almost 30min after our salad course was complete. That was a little bit of a head scratcher.
The mussels, however, were worth the wait. Big flavor and decent sized mussels. Some of the better ones we’ve had in Charlotte.
The pasta entree was fine. Truffle butter and lime were the supporting flavors but were very faint. It definitely needed more of both. The house made pasta was also a touch over worked and dense, but still fine.
Shrimp were cooked perfectly.
All in all it was an exceptional experience compared to most in Charlotte. We’re looking forward to our next visit.
Everyone was very nice too. Great service!
everything, literally everything was perfection. We will be back very very soon
I called at 830 to see if I could come eat girl said yeah you can sit at the bar. I drove 20 mins the short haired brunette bartender said kitchens closed it wasn’t even 9. Website says they close at 930. Woudnt recommend going.
Catherine was our server, and she was excellent. Shoutout to her, the gentleman with glasses whose name we didn't get and hooked us up with a green goddess dressing recipe (their dressing here is amazing, I dont say that lightly) and the chef. Food is made all in house, it's top notch, 11/10 experience.
Just celebrated my anniversary here and this place is AMAZING. Top-shelf service from Justice and the team!! Thank you, can’t wait to come back!

Made a reservation for my ladies 30th birthday and it went great. A few things I should comment on. The place has a great ambiance and is not to loud on the inside. The seating is a bit close depending on if you’re seated at the smaller section but that is not enough to say I didn’t enjoy the visit. I do have to say maybe I glanced at the photos of the yeast rolls a bit to fast in the reviews because we were expecting them to be much larger than they actually are…. No big deal they melt in your mouth!!!! But beware you will need to order more than one batch. The portions are a bit small depending on what you order but the food is pretty good. DO NOT expect to come and dine for two for less than one hundred dollars!! It’s worth it at the end of the day!
***** The chocolate hazelnut bar is crazy good I’m pretty sure they do not have this on the menu anymore but was served to us as a birthday dish. 10/10
Great meal and service! Our server Paige, was super attentive and the rest of the staff was great! Food was amazing!
Mo with Offline - Celebrated my birthday at Peppervine on a Thursday night, and everything was divine. Erlan, our server, was fantastic—attentive and knowledgeable.
We enjoyed the arugula salad, pork ragu pappardelle, mushroom agnolotti, and, of course, the heavenly yeast rolls. Every dish was perfectly executed, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.
With impeccable service, a stunning atmosphere, and outstanding food, Peppervine made my night truly special. Can’t wait to return!
Beautiful ambiance but not worth the price. Over $100 a head for average service and below average food (for the price point). Tried 13 dishes throughout my visit and would only order 4 again. The bread was phenomenal (but expensive for portion size), short rib was immaculate, and the deserts were wonderful as well. Would only revisit to sit at the bar and order the bread/short rib.
Had an absolute blast here! Went with my wife for a rare date night and knew from the moment I was seated it would be a great experience. David was a fantastic server, Tommy took the time to sift through the wine list with us to find the perfect pairing, and Chef Will made a meal for the ages. Can’t thank the staff enough for everything!
