Giving 4 stars because the breakfast sammy with turkey sausage has been good both times we’ve gone, this time it was a bit over seasoned but still good overall. The caramel latte was amazing the first time we came. I was shocked because I normally don’t like caramel lattes. When we got the lattes this time around they were a complete 180 degree experience from last time. Watery, no flavor, and just not good. I asked for more caramel thinking maybe that was the problem but it did nothing to help it 🥴 ended up having to go for a totally different drink that a different cashier was happy to help with. My friend and I noticed the lady who originally took my order seemed upset that she offered to switch it out. That was off putting

I'm very disheartened to write a review for Roots that is not 5 stars. I have been coming here frequently (sometimes every week day or twice a day) for almost a year. At first, I loved it. The service was friendly my food always came out promptly and yummy. Over the past maybe 2 months, I have many complaints. Here's just one: the last visit to Roots I had I asked for one side of bacon. My bacon was raw when I opened it at my office across the street after I waited over 20 minutes for one side of bacon. When I called, the woman on the phone was very rude and unprofessional. I came back and it was promptly taken care of by a woman I believe to be the owner. Sad the employees showed little interest in helping before she was present. Today was very upsetting. I called to place a to-go order for my office and the phones were dead (weird thing that happens periodically to their phones). I then walk over and order, they keep changing the menu and the website isn't updated so they didn't have two of the orders. That's fine, I substitute it. I made my order and asked when I should expect it. The employee told me 10 minutes. I notice it's been about 20. I go up to the counter and stand and wait. I get very dismissive service with no update. Someone asked my name and went to the kitchen and gave no update or anything upon return, so off putting. I ended up waiting around 30 minutes, I don't mind so much but some quick acknowledgement would have been nice and professional. Just overall bad service recently. Employees also just look like they're not happy to be there. As I'm writing this review I realize I just took a bite of raw bacon in my chicken avocado wrap. That's disgusting. My coworker showed me her BELT sandwich and there's no sauce on it. Roots used to be my favorite and I've taken a lot of people there and recommended it to many as well. Sad to see it getting bad so quickly, hope it gets back on track one day and I don't get food poisoning. Only giving better than a one star because it used to be good :(

Got here at 7:10 and the shop isn’t open though it’s supposed to be.
Got scolded by a server after I grabbed a table outside while my family was at the counter ordering inside. Prior to that, we waited 15 minutes for a table to become available. That’s bad business to be that disrespectful to people who want to give you their money.

The smoked salmon and sweet potato hash was delicious. The sauce they gave with the hash was great too. Everyoen who worked there was attentive and very sweet, warm and welcoming. Atmosphere was really cool and my espresso (not pictured) was great as well.

Very cool, laid back vibe here. I had the breakfast bowl with vegan sausage. The roots hash is so good. The whole bowl had a great combo of flavors!! Wished I lived in Charlotte to come more often!
