I like the atmosphere and staff was friendly. I enjoyed my whiskey pumpkin chai drink, and a nice surprise to have buy 1 get 1 free on the pastries today. I enjoyed my roots bowl with salmon, although that was cooked a lil long for my liking but overall the bowl was filling.

Vegetarian options: Assortment to choose from.

My family and I evacuated to Charlotte from Asheville in the wake of hurricane Helene. We were going to eat breakfast at ROOTS cafe and in line we learned they were offering free meals for anyone who had to evacuate. We were so incredibly moved and touched seeing the support. What a kind thing to do as a business. We also loved the food!! Thanks so much ROOTS staff.

We ordered the breakfast burritos and one had the extra pastrami added, it was absolutely delicious! The house coffee was excellent as well, along with very kind and considerate staff and service.

I would give this restaurant five stars for the food, service and atmosphere alone, but it gets ten stars because my wife and I are from Asheville, NC, currently homeless nomads due to the horrible disaster from Hurricane Helene, I can’t tell you how charitable this business is, as they comped our meal when they found out about our refuge status. Clearly the owner has high values and we want to thank this person, and the staff from the bottom of our hearts, as it has been very difficult for us and everyone in WNC, we appreciate your gratitude. Thank you.

Best breakfast burrito in Charlotte! It’s packed with flavor. I recommend adding the chorizo and dipping in their red pepper aoili and green chile sauce. I wish it had the option for hashbrowns instead of the “Root Hash” which is breakfast potatoes and sweet potatoes. Also I wish the egg was more fluffy and runny, rather than fried. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. The environment was a little loud and chaotic.

The atmosphere is very cute, well done!
Service is on point too, but the food and coffee are so plane and boring. My sandwich barely has salt and spices, and my coffee was overoasted and tasting like burned. No good unfortunately.

Hope you recover. In the meantime, I'll keep myself far from here

Nice atmosphere, cute cafe, good service. We arrived, ordered, sat and didn't wait too long for our food and drinks.

My shareable salad was nice, but small in the context of sharing. The avocado toast was soft on soft - the bread seemed to be toasted on one side but was still quite soft, with the avocados mashed or sliced - it wasn't clear -, and then drenched in a sauce. The plate('ing) was quite awkward but overall not as enjoyable as desired. Nice biscuit, but the sides - butter and jam were way more than needed.

My daughter's drink had a bug. Once I brought it to their notice, the team was kind enough to replace it, and refund the drink.

I had the root bowl and the flavor was great but it wasn’t a bowl it was more of a plate. I would have liked to have more greens or veggies in general. By the time I mixed it together it was more of a bean bowl because it wasn’t enough greens. However, the flavor was really good. Add more veggies and it’s definitely a winner.

This is the best breakfast/brunch/lunch place. It’s casual, great food offerings that you don’t find everywhere. The tostada, croque madame, and burrito are some of our favorites. Not a massive boozy brunch place, but great brunch cocktails and coffee. We have gone to the after hours and had a tapas dinner and cocktails and played games and it was wonderful. I will be distraught if they ever close!!! We usually come here every weekend we are in town.

cool regular

I love this place.
That housemade pastrami is life. In fact everything I’ve ordered has always made my tummy happy.
I once got a chance to speak to the chef and he was super down to earth and nice.
Pricing also gives a good value due to the flavor and care they take with it.
I just went today for a pastrami breakfast wrap (since i was in the area), but couldnt eat it till like a half hour later - and it tasted amazing as ever.
