Ru Ru's Tacos & Tequila

Honestly shocked this place is rated so well. The server was nice and the patio was cute, but all 2/3 of our entrees were bad and the queso was as runny as water. I’m only giving a 2/5 because the margaritas were great.

No free chips and salsa, a cornerstone of every good Mexican restaurant experience. No straws either. Food was alright, not great. But one star for the audacity to charge for subpar chips and mediocre salsa!

I will always give this place five stars. If I can give it 10 I’ll give it 10 this is me and my daughter to go spot for our mother and daughter date. The food is perfect. The staff are friendly. They’re very quick and the area is very laid-back. I like the fact that you’re able to sit outside and eat your food.

Patio is great, service was really good. But the food was very meh, and the drinks were NOT good. Steak taco was great, tuna taco was way over sauced and mahi was so far overcooked it was unrecognizable. My first cocktail tasted like soap and the next, a simple vodka cranberry with Tito's was almost undrinkable. My companion had the same food opinion on his burrito. Hid first pineapple margarita was great, 2nd was so spicy he couldn't drink it - and he loves spice.

One of the best patios in Charlotte. The tacos are pretty basic but are really good. The drink selection is solid. Can’t go wrong going here

Tacos were delicious. 3 steak, Buffalo chicken, and pork. Steak tacos a little chewy, overall decent for 5 bucks a pop.

It was our first time visiting here. They don't take reservations, but they had no problem seating us. The margaritas were great. The "The Amigos" appetizer was three large bowls of salsa, guacamole, and melted cheese. We enjoyed it. I ordered a "Les Bomb" burrito. It was OK. My wife had a quesadilla which was great. We finished off with churros which were ok.

The ‘It’s All Ball Bearings’ bowl had some pieces of dry chicken but was overall good. The ‘Fat Guy in a Little Coat’ taco was bland with dry meat. The ‘How Do You Like Them Apples’ burrito wasn’t too flavorful, just average. Service was friendly and great.

Seriously one of our favorite Mexican restaurants ever! The salsa is excellent and worth the additional cost. We actually did the trio dip and it was all so delicious! My husband shared the steak fajitas with the kids and they were fighting over it! I had a quesadilla and thought it was delicious. We had great service as well and the atmosphere can't be beat! +Great spicy margaritas!

Parking: There is a lot off of Providence road that is small-ish, but there's another lot in the back. It's not difficult to find once you know it is there! ?

Kid-friendliness: There are kid options on the menu, but my kids mostly wanted the fajitas.

Ruru’s was our best stop on our trip. The happy hour prices are amazing and the food is so good. The staff were some of the most amazing people ever! Reed & Cody were phenomenal. We seriously didn’t want to leave because we were having such a great time with everyone!

I have been coming to ruru’s for as long as I can remember for birthdays, celebrations, and many other nights in between. Tonight was the first time I had a negative experience. We usually come to get the 3 for $12 tacos on Tuesdays. Not until day were we told that they wouldn’t honor two people splitting three tacos. The waitress told us it was on the table cards everywhere (not a table card in sight). After telling her it wasn’t on the website either she responded with “well now you know”. Following this interaction, she came up to tell us our total, not even asking if we wanted anything else. It makes me disappointed considering this is beloved restaurant of mine for almost 10+ years now. The food was great as always but the service created animosity within our experience tonight.
