Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery

So good! Here in North Carolina visiting from Oklahoma! This place is YUM!!!!

I wanted to like Smelly Cat more than I did. While the coffee and food was great, the service experience was very subpar. Not only was ordering done on iPads but you then had to wait 20+ minutes by the pick up window. If they expect that sort of wait, a better pickup system needs to be in place, whether it be a text or buzzer. Rather than spend time with my friends, I had to spend 15 minutes waiting for my bagel and then another 15 waiting for my cappuccino.

I asked for Irish Coffee without alcohol. They served me something else. When I pointed it out, their reply was, “That’s the closest you can get for Irish coffee. I don’t know how to make one”.

They are pioneering an “order yourself” experience which has its advantages to be sure, but the terminals occasionally malfunction and leave unable to order which is so silly.

Besides this issue I would recommend the place as I enjoy the coffee and food and the service is usually very quick.

Awesome place with the coolest atmosphere you could possibly have in a coffee spot! The coffee and other coffee type offerings are phenomenal and its simply a really cool vibe and set up that they have going :)

The Matcha that I purchased here was super good. It’s definitely cozy inside and there’s a lot of outdoor seating. I just wish that it would’ve been more advertised that the food service stops at noon.

I have patronized Smelly Cat for years. I stopped for a while after the incident with them supposedly destroying the work of local artists, but since returned as there was no clear cut story behind that (and certainly no apology.) Since then, I have experience odd and discomforting interactions a specific staff member has with a specific type of person. I am not going to irresponsibly go spewing wild accusations, BUT I left the review solely based on my disappointment in the apparent lack of morality. The coffee is great! However, not good enough for me to overlook malice behavior. I appreciate the response.

Shop is really cute, and staff are quick and attentive. There's not much space but they put a lot of thought into the lay out. Breakfast sandwiches are yummy!

Coffee is great! Burrito was okay but this is definitely a worth of trying. Place is nice and cozy. But the best part is knowing the name is coming from Friends the show. Exactly what I expected! Definitely coming back for more. ☕️?

Very cute spot! And nice employees. Sad to say the coffee was weak and watery :( Add 1.25× more coffee to your drip!! Also the medium is more of a dark. Please offer light roast!!

The dirty chai frappe is quite literally the BEST coffee drink I have ever had. We've come back multiple times just for that. Love this place!
