Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery

First off the atmosphere of this coffee shop is awesome. They have indoor and outdoor seating . I got a cold brew coffee and a build your own everything bagel. Coffee was brewed perfectly to taste and the bagel sandwich was on point! Definitely recommend this coffee shop!

I ordered a cappuccino for dine in with 2% milk and light caramel syrup. I received my cappuccino which was in a massive mug & had 3 shots worth, which is not what I ordered. Traditionally a cappuccino shouldn’t be more than 2 shots. The caramel syrup was also missing. I had them remake the cappuccino in a to-go cup as I am traveling. It was remade once again without the caramel syrup. Just stating facts. Otherwise it was a cool coffee joint.

We love smelly cat ! When we lived in Charlotte back around ~2010, we went often to this charming coffee shop. it was a treat to study here in college. It’ was one of a few places left that still hand crafted espresso without using automatic machines. Not sure if they still do but man, it was so good. I need to order a mug online :)

I'm 57 but this is a good place for younger people. The music rocks, the coffee & tea are good, the treats are yummy. And the decor needs to be experienced.

Ambiance was perfect. Sunday morning and 2000s hits playing. I had the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with the toasted coconut latte. They were both solid, very impressed with the latte flavor. The biscuit itself was a perfect buttermilk biscuit. The aura of the staff was so off the charts I just sat in blissful smiles. Thank you :)

The parking lot was a little bit of a Tetris puzzle but it could also just be user error.

Came in just before close, and the employees were so kind! They were able to still make me a cool, caffeinated beverage! They engaged in conversation with both me and my baby. Very sweet experience, and I would highly recommend!

We are in Charlotte for a convention and we have went to Smelly Cat two days in a row for amazing coffee! Cold brew is on point and also had a dirty chai this morning that totally hit the spot. Their biscuits are also very tasty and the service is great!

I wanted to like Smelly Cat more than I did. While the coffee and food was great, the service experience was very subpar. Not only was ordering done on iPads but you then had to wait 20+ minutes by the pick up window. If they expect that sort of wait, a better pickup system needs to be in place, whether it be a text or buzzer. Rather than spend time with my friends, I had to spend 15 minutes waiting for my bagel and then another 15 waiting for my cappuccino.

I asked for Irish Coffee without alcohol. They served me something else. When I pointed it out, their reply was, “That’s the closest you can get for Irish coffee. I don’t know how to make one”.

They are pioneering an “order yourself” experience which has its advantages to be sure, but the terminals occasionally malfunction and leave unable to order which is so silly.

Besides this issue I would recommend the place as I enjoy the coffee and food and the service is usually very quick.

Awesome place with the coolest atmosphere you could possibly have in a coffee spot! The coffee and other coffee type offerings are phenomenal and its simply a really cool vibe and set up that they have going :)

The Matcha that I purchased here was super good. It’s definitely cozy inside and there’s a lot of outdoor seating. I just wish that it would’ve been more advertised that the food service stops at noon.
