The service was not my favorite part of the visit. Don't know if they were the owners or not but they were very standoffish and not very friendly or forthcoming with answering questions. Myself and two other guests discussed how we felt ignored and how they were a bit rude. The food was good and worth the trip but the customer service was definitely not up to par. I don't know if it was a language barrier or they chose to pretend like it was a language barrier but like I said questions were asked and not answered it was met with blank stairs which I found to be very rude. Would I go back maybe but at this point I'm going to say an absolute no.
Food smelled great. Picked up for a group, but took forever for me to get acknowledged and for my order to come out. Staff was not friendly. I had heard such great things about their food, but also that they were expensive. If they don't fix the service, they will be hard pressed to stay in business. Shame, because the food has such a great rep.
They hosted our Family Reunion meet and greet…the banquet room was great, great service and oh the FLOUNDER!
I decided to stop over here out of pure curiosity after leaving Cava. The environment reminds me of every southern restaurant in SC as far as the set up. Extremely kind and welcoming. Affordable pricing as well. Now I made sure to read the reviews after I purchased my plates & ultimately found that a lot of the crowd is expecting something familiar and not a nod to a flavor that is extremely hard to find in Charlotte. It is not granny’s, aunties or your cousins plate so I do not recommend reviewing based on a home experience. I didn’t even eat my Cava bowl, this is something that needed to be eaten ASAP.
For a restaurant that is supporting a large audience with a specific taste, I will give them their flowers. Personally for me, with my dietary issues this place is perfect as a way to feel at my families home. My plate feels like a Sunday afternoon in SC after church.
This might be the worst food I’ve ever seen. Never mind the taste . How is this place still in business. This is literally the 9th wonder of the world. No seriously. Nothing looked appealing. Against my better judgement, I tried the chicken and mac n cheese. 🤮 This place left me traumatized!
DISGUSTING FOOD AND UNSKILLED COOKS. Definitely a waste of money and time! Go anywhere else, they food is nasty!
Good food, couldn’t sit down and eat it but portions are very good. Great job !
The food had a ton of salt on it. I thought that it was own by African American cooking soul food. Right. I’m finding out in Charlotte these fake soul people are ran by other folks, rather than blacks. I will never go back. The food was horrible to me. I threw it away after a couple of bites
Food was pretty good!. 2nd time coming here. You can't expect it to be your gma soul food now let's be fr. It's a resturant they have to cater to many taste buds so some stuff may be bland then some but the fish and Meatloaf was well seasoned .yams sweet soft. Cabbage good cornbread good.only complaint is the music .it was rock /pop and loud. I feel like some jazz or instrumentals would do justice lol. But I would come back!.

I recently ordered takeout from this hidden gem of a soul food restaurant, and I can’t say enough good things about it! Initially, I was surprised to find that the team behind the counter is predominantly Latino, with limited English-speaking capabilities. However, their mastery of Southern cooking is nothing short of exceptional.
Every dish I’ve tried has been incredibly flavorful and made with love. It’s clear that they pour their heart into every aspect of their cooking. This place may look like a hole in the wall, but don’t let that fool you; it’s a treasure trove of wholesome, delicious food.
Whether you’re craving classic comfort food or something a little different, this restaurant never disappoints. It’s my go-to spot whenever I want a satisfying meal, and I always leave feeling happy and fulfilled. If you’re looking for authentic Southern cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won’t regret it!

The Mac and cheese tasted funny, the chicken wasn’t seasoned well. The only thing that was tolerable was sweet yams. If you’re really hungry I don’t recommend this place.

Man listen don’t waste your time or money! The food is nasty no flavor the Mac&cheese is missing the cheese and any kind of ingredients to make it creamy or even be mac&cheese other than the noodle. The yams are tasteless no sweetness or flavor the fried chicken was soft and under cooked
