A group from work went together for lunch. The food was so delicious and everyone was so friendly. This will be going on our regular lunch rotation for sure.

Excellent service, the chicken is definitely a must. The dishes take some time to prepare but it is well worth the wait.

They took my money and then said they couldn't fulfill my order then they didn't give me my money back to get dinner from somewhere else. Hungry kids, waiting on money spent have to spend twice as much for dinner to try something different. What a waste. If you don't pick it up don't order from here!

This week, I visited this establishment for the first time. Although the restaurant is not close to my residence, I decided to venture out to try it based upon the great Google reviews. In my opinion, it is very difficult to find GOOD soul food in Charlotte and unfortunately I have been underwhelmed by many of the places that I have patronized in the area. That being said, I will start with the positives about the Soul Kitchen. The cornbread was very good and was the best menu item out of all the others that we ordered. The meats (flounder and pork chops) were seasoned well, however the pork chop was a bit overcooked. As for the negatives, most of the vegetables were not appealing. The collards and cabbage lacked seasoning and the blacked eyed peas were seasoned like chili beans. Although the mac n cheese wasn't bad, overall it lacked moisture. The taste of the food was at best average and I would not likely dine here again because the food really does not offer that authentic soul food flavor that I am to which I am accustomed.

(not a dine in restaurant) The chicken was cooked to order DELICIOUS! Mac and cheese should be creamer but otherwise everything else looks fresh and delicious!

If you live in Charlotte you know how rare it is to find really good soul food..majority of CLTs most popular soul food restaurants are trash :( . I have literally ordered from Soul Kitchen on DoorDash 3x in one week lol. THIS IS THE BEST SOUL FOOD In Charlotte.. seriously. Just to add I’m in Steele creek and my food arrives still hot. The taste, portion and price are 100/100!

This food was just horrible!!Too much salt and the fry chicken was so bad she fried the skin completely off!! The chicken looked foreign with all the overly fried skin. How can you MESS UP FRIED CHICKEN when you own a soul food establishment?!!!!Her attitude wasn’t the best either!

5 stars for customer service. The food wasn't to my family's taste. I did enjoy the collard greens. Everything else was a little too much of something. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable.

Vegetarian options: Labeled some dishes as vegan, not sure if vegan or vegetarian.

When I tell you...each and every time I go, I always have some for later! This amazing spot is where everyone needs to come to when they craving soul food! I was STARVING and wanted something hearty and we stopped by here! The service is always amazing and I was the only one there!I wanted the meatloaf, Mac and cheese and green beans and my hubby wanted fried chicken wings, okra, and mac and cheese! EVERYTHING WAS BEYOND AMAZING!!! The chicken wings were cooked to order and it was soooooo good, I'm surprised he shared a wing with me! Even the cornbread tastes like cake! The ambiance was fine, music from the 2000s were playing so I happily waited!Every time we come, it's great comfort food and honestly the best around! I would recommend everyone to go check them out!
