My wife and I walked in. No one greeted us. Walk up to the counter, no one said hello nothing.
The red velvet bites were VERY dry along with the other donut we bought.
We will never visit this location again. CUSTOMER SERVICE is the worse.

I need to express my disappointment with my visit to this bakery in Charlotte. Despite the positive reviews that drew me in, my experience did not live up to expectations.
First, let me acknowledge that the atmosphere is lovely. It has that nostalgic feel reminiscent of old-school bakeries or Krispy Kreme for those familiar with North Carolina. The setup is inviting, and the visuals of the delicacies are indeed impressive. However, this is where the positives end.
While I hoped that navigating the poorly designed parking lot would be the worst part, I was unfortunately mistaken. As someone with a dairy allergy, I specifically sought out places with vegan options, only to be met with disappointment.
They have a chalkboard indicating vegan options, but when I inquired about the sugar cookies, the staff member behind the counter rolled her eyes and gave me a dismissive “duh” look. The reviews suggested a variety of options, so I expected more than just the sugar cookies.
The only other vegan offering was a ginger oatmeal cookie with a texture that resembled Crumbl cookies—hard yet oddly chewy. While it had flavor, it left me feeling unsatisfied.
After driving 20 minutes out of my way, I felt it was a complete waste of time. I may consider giving this place another chance, but I cannot recommend it to anyone with allergy restrictions. Save your time and seek out better options.
Dietary restrictions: Read the signs. The staff are not very helpful in discernment.
Parking: Very well trafficked area!

Fresh made pasties daily. Their glazed donuts are so simple and good. We also picked up a Carrot Cake for my husband’s birthday. It was amazing. It’s a spice cake with cream cheese filling, cinnamon buttercream icing and candied orange peel crown.
If you like carrot cake, this is a great place to get it! We were thoroughly impressed. Thank you Suarez Bakery!

Sooo disappointed! I buy cakes from here all the time. Bought the Yule Log Cake for Christmas Eve dinner and the cake was so dry the frosting crumbled off. The filling in between the cake was rubbery and gooey.
I’m very surprised they would sell a product like this, especially for Christmas.

My experience and rating is for my recent purchase of Christmas wreath cookies. Having been a loyal customer and advocate for years, I expected more from them when there is a problem. In this case, they failed.
I ordered 2 dozen cookies and when my husband brought them home, I laughed at the presentation. They looked nothing like the website's photo, and more like a child's first baking class, which would likely be more presentable. :-/
I called the store to let them know I was disappointed with the outcome, sent them a photo and asked them to compare what I received to the online representation. After she talked to her manager, she informed me that the online photo was pre-baked and the cookie spreads during baking. I told her that I did not know that and they should consider changing the photo to what it will look like after baking because there is a big difference.
Moving to a solution I asked her if there were any other cookies available for me to purchase because they are for a children's Christmas pageant being held tomorrow. They have frosted/sanded cookies available, which I thought would be prettier. I asked if they would extend a discount for the 24 I paid for and was disappointed with and she offered 10% off. I declined this lame offer and the typical "I'm sorry", which sounded rehearsed and disingenuous. The manager never got on the phone to try and make this better likely because the store was filled with customers and they were filling a lot of orders, which is the goal; however, with me and my situation, they have one less customer to worry about...forever. And just as I have been a huge advocate, shouting their praises, I will now be their detractor, all because of their lack of empathy, understanding, and time to fix the problem. Sure, it is only sugar cookies I am talking about, but the crux of the problem is their lack of customer service.

They did an amazing job on our wedding cake and donuts. The letter donuts are so cute! Everything looked and tasted amazing. Ordering the custom cake and donuts was super easy and everyone was lovely along the way. Could not have asked for a better experience!

Suarez Bakery - Park Road Charlotte
Now I wish I had tried additional sweets! Only got four and they are absolutely phenomenal! We will definitely be back, on a Saturday to get the Cuban bread.
Salted brownie cookie? Absolute favorite!
The little almond horn was equal with the number one slot.
Then came the apple fritter, that glazed doughnut was fabulous!
Super nice girls at the counter.
I did drive past “not your mom’s donuts” (hope I got the name right lol!) in the parking lot, but they were closed.
Yet another reason to go back! 🥹

My New Go-To for Birthday Cakes and More
My initial introduction to Suarez Bakery was at Optimist Hall. I love walking by and seeing what new treats they have to offer—they do a great job of switching things up, so you’re always in for a sweet surprise! However, it wasn’t until I was searching for a birthday cake that I discovered they also have a brick-and-mortar location.
I tried their vanilla cupcake, and I was floored. Yes, it’s such a simple treat, but it tastes like it was made with genuine care and attention to detail. After that, I knew I had to order my birthday cake from them. The ordering process was seamless—you just fill out a form online, and someone calls to confirm the details. Just a heads-up, custom cake orders are pretty popular, so don’t wait until the last minute to place yours, or they may not be able to fulfill it on your desired day.
As for the cake design, they offer fantastic options, and the final product was a hit. Everyone at my party was so impressed by both the design and the taste of the cake. I got compliments all night long! Suarez Bakery is now officially my go-to spot for birthday cakes and delicious treats. Highly recommend!

Pros :
- the cake is phenomenal - I don’t like cake at all and I love their cakes - the strawberry filling is perfection
- pricing for cakes is competitive to other bakeries
- the store smells amazing when you walk in
Cons :
- can’t order cakes in person at the store… can only be ordered online.
Was told this was to prevent the small store area from getting crowded during Covid … I get safety precautions but I was told this in July 2024. Maybe it’s time to update your procedures. I was ordering cakes for my wedding and wanted to make sure the frosting colors were right bc sometimes colors on a screen or in a pic look different - was told to move along and order online and looking at pictures of the colors and an online order was my only option.
- they don’t offer delivery
- they don’t offer tiered cakes
- I ordered the horizontal palette designs with my wedding colors and the cakes I picked up the day before the event had vertical designs on them. I had already had such a bad experience with customer service over multiple in person visits and over the phone that I chose not to say anything bc ultimately no one but me would know/care at the wedding and I didn’t have any time to wait for them to try and fix it or come back later.
- ordering/paying in store is chaotic - there is no structure or direction for forming a line or helping customers in an orderly manner
- no gluten free options
