We dined at Taco Boy yesterday with a group of 5. We all work in the service industry, so we are very understanding when it comes to separating food quality from service issues. This was a horrible experience due to both of these things.
Let me just preface this with saying that we were the only table in the whole restaurant. Three of us arrived first and we were greeted by our server, who had AirPods in the whole time, asking for drinks or appetizers initially upon being seated. At this point we hadn’t even looked down at the menus, we told her that we needed some time to which she audibly sighed and walked away before we could even let her know that we were waiting for the rest of our party to show up. After the rest of our party arrived, our server wasn’t anywhere to be found. Drink and food orders were finally placed and once again, the server was nowhere to be found after the dishes hit the table. No one checked on us and we sat there for too long dissatisfied with the quality of the food.
The rice came out undercooked. The queso came out cold and was way too thick. The street corn dip came out with a layer of grease on top, and the dip itself was curdled (according to the server, this is how it is supposed to be served). None of this food was edible. After we voiced these issues, we were met with another sigh. As our server made her way back to the kitchen, she punched the door on the way in. After another extremely long period of time of waiting, I decided to go ask the host to speak to a manger considering nobody came by to discuss the problems we faced before the checks were dropped. To my surprise the host was the manager. I explained the problems with the food and the service. He brought adjusted checks to the table but no apologies were given and he didn’t even care to speak with anyone else in the party to address how we were treated.
It would be one thing if just the food was bad, but after experiencing the awful attitude towards guests, I can see why the place was empty.

Taco Boy had great customer service! The tacos are definitely where their menu shines. My friend and I tried 5 different kinds between the two of us and they were all tasty. Cocktails were good too. Certain things lacked flavor in my opinion, like the guac and refried beans.

Chaney was absolutely bomb! I have to ask 1000 questions because of my celiac disease and she was great about it. If she wasn’t sure about something, she asked the chef. I got the hibiscus margarita and rice bowl. The chips are in a shared fryer so I avoided those but the queso is flourless 🤩

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to taco boy the food was amazing!! I sat at the bar with Lee as my bartender she was great. They also had a DJ who brought the great ! I highly recommend for taco Tuesday or any other day of the week!

Grabbed what was supposed to be a quick lunch with a colleague turned into a longer experience.
Overall the food was okay. Highlight was the salsa verde which had great flavor and both the kimchi taco and firestarter tacos were very tasty. My colleague loved the flavor of the refried beans.
The chicken tinga however was under-seasoned and I couldn’t finish it so would not recommend.
What gave this experience a three for me was the overall service. Our waitress sunny was great and did an amazing job but she also had a large party like 15 people and no one really seemed to be helping her. She did a great job going back and forth but when bringing out all the food I typically see other servers coming out to bring out the main server. However in this case, it seemed like she was handling a lot alone even though there was other staff available. This also had impact on our table because we waited longer than we needed during our service.
Shout out to our waitress and the host for making sure we were taken care of even without extra support.
A group of use went for Taco Tuesday/Belated Birthday. Our server Audacy (I think it was) was literally AMAZING. She was accommodating, super friendly, and went above and beyond. The food was really good and decent portion, probably like top 3 of the taco spots I’ve been to in Charlotte (Quesabirria, Baja taco). Drinks were delicious! (1.Strawberry marg 2.Pineapple Marg) The atmosphere was fun, the live DJ was playing great stuff, think house meets hip hop/r&b. Will be back!

Met up with some friends to continue my birthday celebration! Came for the $5 margs and the free queso and chips (w/IG screenshot) Margs were your basic premix so not great, but I got the strawberry flavor for $2 more. Which made them a little better. We ordered the Birria tacos, the Mahi tacos, the tinga tacos, the shrimp tacos, the brown sugar Elote wings and the sidewinder fries. Tinga and Birria tacos were dry but the Mahi and Shrimp tacos were tasty. The Mahi was fried, but my son was ok with it. The shrimp was grilled and seasoned well. My friend said the wings were delicious. The music playing was great. Couldn't stop dancing in my seat. I watched other diners do the same. 🤣 Very much enjoyed the evening. We would go back.

Bring back the chickpeas…please….I speak for all the taco boy lovers. Best snack while you’re waiting, the kick is perfect and great to munch while drinking tequilla.
