Anna and I came to Uptown this weekend for a staycation with two of our boys. The Asbury got us off to a great start with great food and attentive staff nestled inside a vintage Charlotte Hotel. We started with the devil eggs, a must whenever eating at this place : ). Number one started with a squash soup and number four a crab bisque. Number one followed with meatloaf and number four vegetable gnocchi in a cream herb sauce. Anna and I split the mahi mahi with fingerling potatoes. Portion sizes were amazing. Great wine choices to boot. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable dinner.... Springrolls, salads, shrimp pasta and desserts were delicious! Hush puppies were hard and overcooked. Chimichurri skirtsteak was good and service was a little slow.

After receiving food we didn't see our waitress again. Had to even ask someone for the check.

We enjoy having a quiet dinner prior to attending shows at The Carolina Theatre. It provides a good place to meet friends, enjoy a meal to relax before the show. It is the perfect combo!

We gad reservation on Christmas Day. There was only one server who was very gracious but had too much responsibility. They had a prixe fixe menu that cost more than the individual items from the regular menu which was also provided. They were out of a menu item despite the very, very light crowd. The food was decent. I recommend they not offer Christmas Day service in the future or make better preparations.

We visited the Asbury before attending an event at the Carolina Theater across the street. We made reservations for the dinner using the holiday pre fixe menu. The menu had two choices for the first course (disappointingly, neither was a salad) three choices for the main course, and two choices for dessert. However, for both the first course and dessert, only one item was available. This was before 6p, so it's not like it was almost closing time. Regardless, we made our selections. The Asbury advertised that they were set-up to get patrons finished with dinner before the start of the next event, but they were very slow getting the main course ready. By the time we ate that, we had to get our desserts to go so we could head over to the Carolina Theater. The food we got was pretty good but not superlative. Our server, Juliana, was superlative. She really hustled and was pleasant throughout.

I had a great experience at The Asbury today celebrating my birthday! The service was great, and the food was delicious. Our server Chong was phenomenal from the start. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. I would love to dine here with him again. Chef Tony came out at the end of our experience to ask how everything went, and we were grateful! I can't wait to come back!

The food and service was amazing.
Ms. Sonia was so on point, I didn’t have to wait for anything.
I highly recommend this place for lunch

This was the first time we ate at The Asbury. The food and service was excellent! We would definitely return and it's a great location if one is going to the Bluementhal Theatre. A bonus...they also validate parking.

It was a very busy Saturday lunch, but our reservation got us a table right away. The staff was very busy but did a good job getting our order in so we were on time for our show at the Belk. Lunch portions on the brunch menu were big and tasty.

We came before the Sound of Music and our dinner started and ended poorly. We were not greeted for over 15 mins. I actually went to the bar and got a drink there because we weren’t even offered the opportunity to order. Finally after 26 mins a waitress did take our order. We explained we were trying to make the play and asked for our bill. We had to ask for our bill at least 4 times and finally had to get up go to the back and give over a credit card. It still took another 10 mins to get the credit card back. No food was comped and the experience was stressful for those in our group who are timely. Food was good but not worth the hassle or poor service. 100% do not recommend.

We decided to have dinner at the Asbury before going to a show at the Carolina Theater on a Saturday night. We had made 6:00 pm reservations a month prior and were seated immediately, but truthfully, that was the best part of the experience. Water was served and then no one came to our table for 15 minutes. There was a fixed price menu on the table, but we wanted to order from the menu. When the server finally came, she asked if we were ready to order. We said we were waiting for menus. She looked a bit startled and then said “Oh sure!” and left to retrieve them. About 5 minutes later she brought them, then disappeared. We watched the table next to us as they sat completely unattended the entire time we had been there. They had been served wine, but no one even stopped by their table after that. I should have realized then that this wasn’t going to be the experience I’d hoped for.
When the server returned to us, she took our orders and never asked us what we’d like to drink. So we got nothing except water. While we waited for our food, the table next to us got their food. One dish was sent back (they had ordered from the fixed price menu) and wasn’t delivered to the patron until everyone else at their table had finished their food.
FORTY minutes later our food was delivered. Mind you, the wait staff was not friendly or attentive at all. I was shocked at the mediocrity of the plating and the preparation. I ordered an Asbury burger and salad. The burger was tiny, dry, and had such a tiny smidgeon of aoli on it, it was absolutely negligible. I had to drink a lot of water to get it down. Salad was completely small and unremarkable and the plating looked like it was thrown together. My friends had equally unimpressive dinners. Salmon, rice and broccoli looked like it came from a lean cuisine.
I will never return there for a meal.
Wait staff was aloof and unobservant. Food was awful and the atmosphere was seriously blah.

Sonya and Chef Bob are amazing! I inquired about the sweet potato soup and they said we will make it this week for you. This is one of the best places to eat with an amazing atmosphere. You can’t find a better lunch. Their sticky buns are to die for. Great place to take someone if you want a wonderful atmosphere. The hotel is amazing also. 92 years old and one of the oldest landmarks! Thanks again for an excellent experience!

Our reservations were for Sunday evening before a show at the Belk theatre. The bar wasn't open so there was no drink service. We left. The place looked great and we were looking forward to eating there; however, there was no mention online when we made the reservation that a bar wasn't available. We were very disappointed.
