The Brickyard

Was there tonight and I bought a man a beer who was standing at the counter between the inside and outside of the bar. The bouncer told him he couldn’t drink the beer on the outside and had to come inside to drink it. So he did and my husband and I were having a great conversation with him when a bouncer came to our table and told him he had to leave. We were having a great conversation about his life in Italy and he was talking about his veteran benefits etc. obviously he was homeless but was very well educated and we were really enjoying our conversation. Supposedly the manager from The Gin Mill, who was talking to my daughter’s friend, told the staff this guy was a threat because he left The Gin Mill recently with an opened tab. The scene quickly turned bad and we were forced out of the establishment simply bc I bought a needy person a drink. WE WILL NEVER GO TO THE BRICKYARD OR THE GINMILL ever again!!!’ Once was enough!!!!! HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENTS THAT DO NOT REPRESENT CHARLOTTE WELL!!!!!!! There are many more bats that are more classy and fun than these two bars!!!!

Great place! Great staff! They do a great job managing such a high volume of patrons.

I’ve been to many bars in Charlotte and The Brickyard is by far one of the best establishments I’ve visited. The bartenders are friendly, very attentive, and make delicious drinks. I’ve met the owner a few times and he’s very friendly. Nice guy, family man, and a veteran! I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. Get TO THE YARD as soon as possible!

Always a good time at the ‘Yard! I have been going since its opening. A staple in Charlotte! Bartenders and staff are always welcoming a good time. If you are visiting from out of town there’s no better start and end to a night than the yard.

service was terrible. rude bouncer and bartender. made slick comments all night and drinks were terrible. if you’re in the area DO NOT come here. no worth it at all and i’ve heard bartenders are racist and rude to others also. another person in there beside me was talking to me about how rude staff was. do not recommend

Black women or honestly any woman that’s not white do not go to brickyard. One of the bartenders is racist and there’s no management around to address it when an incident happens. I had been waiting in line and a white woman cut in. I told the bartender I was actually next and then he said he was going to take her order first and when I protested and said I was there first he rudely agreed to take my order but only after the white girl said it was okay. I wish I could say he was having an off night but after he got done with the white girl whom he was quite nice to my Asian friend tried to get us drinks and he was being nasty to her too.

Whoever the white bartender was making racist comments toward my diverse friend group tonight needs to get it together. Management should fire him immediately before he destroys your reputation. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. Minorities, avoid this place unless they take action to fix this issue. If nothing changes, trust that this will go public on social media. Timestamp is when this review was posted. Bartenders, act professionally it’s not that hard.
