Food was amazing! Definitely the star of the show!!!
Ambiance was terrible. The tables are packed on top of each other and it’s very difficult to have a conversation without speaking very loudly and having other people next to you be a part of your conversation.
Service was mediocre but it wasn’t the servers fault. He had a table of ladies next to us that were needy and most likely single because no man would put up with their entitlement.
Overall, great place to maybe get some takeout, but not dine-in for a special occasion or date night.

Reserved a table for my husband and I to celebrate the completion of his last boards exam. He wanted a place that had a variety of cocktails and good atmosphere. We had a reservation for 5:15 and were seated right away. The atmosphere was true to a speakeasy but we felt it overcrowded and not at all intimate. The server showed us around the menu and then we put in an order for drinks and an appetizer. 45 minutes later, he checked back in to see how our appetizer tasted, but we never received it. Apparently, it got mixed up with another table. It happens and we were very understanding of it. When our main course arrived, we placed another drink order. About 30 minutes later, when we had finished our meals, our server checked back in to claim he lost our drink order and was wondering what we ordered so he could put it in. We told him not to bother and asked for the check. We ended up going elsewhere for dessert. I’m not sure if it was because we were the youngest in the restaurant or what but we definitely felt like we were getting overlooked.
Overall, the food was probably the best we’ve had, but the poor service and crowded environment wrecked our experience. Would not recommend.

Speakeasy vibe very cool although the music is loud. If you wear hearing aids you will have to adjust them. Service was very good even with a full house. Steaks are delicious and prepared as odered. But beware steaks are salted and peppered. A little too much salt for me. I imagine you can request no salt or pepper. The checuterie board was amazing. Get the boar. Sides were great mac n cheese and truffle fries. The scallops we added with our steaks were done perfectly. We loved all of the mixed drinks. Three bartenders working so you know they sell a lot of them. I had the cellar mi tia. Yummy. We shared the berry dessert. Wonderfully light and not too sweet. Pricey but worth a try. We will be back.

Best food I’ve ever had, the truffle Mac & cheese is a must!! I also love the dark atmosphere!
We had a wonderful time dining out. Many of the dishes were delicious. I absolutley loved the oysters. Service was nice and everyone was attentive. We came on a Thuraday evening after a show at Blumenthal. The duck confit was a little too salty for my taste. And the waffle cones with shrimp, chicken, and tuna were okay. I like the idea but it the cones were very very hard. Not my favorite. I did however, really enjoy the Risotto and the dumplings.

My wife and I came with two other couples for dinner before our holiday party. Love the vibe of this place. It’s a little loud but to be expected in such a small area downstairs. We ordered cocktails first thing and they brought one or two at a time over a period of 20 minutes at least. Our last person of the group finally got her drink and it was wrong…she quickly fixed it this time and the other five of us had already finished our first round. The final drink finally came correctly and we decided to order one more round before our food came as we knew it would take awhile for them to come out. Our food starts to come out. We had three orders of brussels as each couple ordered their own. Two of them come out and we tell the waitress we are missing one and she then contradicts us saying we only ordered 2…no we ordered three and how about instead of arguing with us you just go get our third order of brussel sprouts that you forgot.
Our second round of drinks come out and of course…my wife’s drink is wrong. We didn’t even say anything this time as it was frustrating at this point and I’m usually one to make sure my wife gets what she wants but she didn’t want me to get into it with the waitress again. Then our bill came out with an extra cocktail on it that we never received…luckily we caught it. She fixed it. Sounds simple but an extra $17 drink is not small.
Basically the food was absolutely amazing and I would be willing to try this place again just because of how good the food was…but I would 100% ask for a different server if we got the same girl again.

The atmosphere at this spot delivers in every way: it’s a beautiful space with warm lighting and tasteful decor. The food is also very good and totally suited to a special occasion. Our only issue with the food was that some of it (the steak and the corn and leek risotto) was slightly too salty. The cocktails were great, especially the mezcal espresso martini! I’m leading with the good to give this place their deserved props.
NOW, the issue for us is that we made a reservation a week in advance and were sat at a high top by the bar. This could have been a minor blip (seating is limited, so sure, but you’d think with a res we’d be safe from the worst seating option) if we didn’t then have to wait around 30 minutes to be served. We ordered apps and main dishes and everything came out all at once and after a long wait. The server did his job, nothing really special. So, really all the timing and service that would have made this a great experience was phoned in. It was our first time there, and all of this made us wonder if we were being singled out or if the service level is just kind of weak/inconsistent.
Truthfully, I’d give it another go, just wanted to leave this review so other folks looking to celebrate a special occasion over a somewhat pricey meal understand what they may be in for.

It's not really a 3, more like a 3.5, but definitely not a 4/5 or 5/5.
We ordered a couple cocktails, which were decent and well received. The Cellar Smash was delightful and refreshing. The Mezcal Sour was ok, but more foam than drink.
Food was another story:
1) the waiter told us he would pace the dishes, which was very much appreciated, but the pace made no sense. The first came pretty quickly, then about 20 minutes for the next, then another 20 minutes, and then the last two came at the same time. No consistency, no rhythm, no pace.
2) The charcuterie board was underwhelming. We actually got the dry sausage nub as one of the slices. Really? You get about two little slices of cheese, but some nice accompaniments. The honey was really nice.
3) The tuna tartare was extremely salty. When the waiter came by and asked how everything was, I stayed silent and he called me out, so I told him what I thought. He said it was maybe the guac, but it definitely was not. We used the guac to try to curb the saltiness, like a potato in an over salty soup. Didn't work.
4) the din is something else. When it's full it is very loud and I couldn't hear anything my wife was saying.
All told, eh.
Don't plan on coming back.
Wouldn't recommend for $200 for a couple, without a dessert.

We went here for our anniversary and we loved the ambiance of the restaurant however most of our food was either bland or overcooked, my wife's scallops were perfect but my steak was bland along with the gyoza. The server did seem a little stand offish.

Julie was our waitress and she was phenomenal. Food was wonderful and bar tenders know what’s up. Great date night spot. Not uppity but not a dive bar. A great compromise for a chill dinner with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

Food was good. I had the Bison Filet and the damn truffle fries. Very good. Spencer the bartender really made me feel at home with his bar management skills and making excellent drinks. They were really busy and he was holding it down. My hats off to Spencer!!
Would return.

Went here for a bday and it blew us away!!! Great place for a special occasion. The experience was amazing. We loved the speakeasy feel. The drinks were great and the appetizers were so good. Our waiter and service was 11/10 too. Only reason I can’t give it a full 5 stars is because I ordered the steak and it was WAY too salty. I wish I could have enjoyed it but it just had too much salt, and I was hoping I would love it because it was pretty pricey. Otherwise great place to go for a late night dinner

My party was a group of 6 and we were in the area for a show at the Belk theatre. We didn’t have a reservation so were expecting to be turned away but the hosts and bartenders worked to reserve us space and it all worked out.
Everything about our experience this time, and my previous visits, was exceptional. I only have high praises to sing for The Cellar. The hosts as soon as you walk down the steps were so friendly. The manager was seen running around to help the other staff, while still checking in on us and asking how everything was. The bartenders made 10/10 amazing drinks, with an impressive selection of cocktails to choose from, and still entertained our requests for cocktails not on the menu. I wish I would grabbed our bartenders names but they were working flawlessly in unison and still hamming it up with our group of six. They were so busy, just slinging cocktails one after another our entire visit but we never felt like we waited for anything. And finally, the food. Incredible food. Truffle fries, Mac and cheese, Nutella cheesecake, tres leches. All of it so, so good.
Thanks for the primo experience. I can’t wait to come back.
