Dining at The Fig Tree feels like stepping into a different pace of life, where the entire evening slows down and becomes an experience rather than just a meal. We made reservations for dinner and from the moment we walked into the historic Lucas House, we could tell this place takes hospitality seriously. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and elegant in a way that instantly sets the tone without trying too hard. It’s the kind of restaurant where the lighting, the staff, the pacing — everything — quietly works together to make the night feel special.

The food was exceptional from start to finish. The server guided us through the menu with real insight, describing dishes in a way that didn’t feel rehearsed but genuinely knowledgeable. The elk chop is probably one of the most talked-about entrées in Charlotte, and it deserves every bit of praise. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and paired with flavors that actually enhance rather than overwhelm. The appetizers were just as impressive — the escargot and foie gras somehow managed to be rich without feeling heavy, and it set the tone for the rest of the meal. Even the bread service felt deliberate and thoughtful. You can tell the kitchen has extremely high standards and doesn’t cut corners.

What stood out most, though, was the service — attentive without hovering, professional without stiffness. Everything arrived at the right time, water glasses never hit empty, and we never once had to flag anyone down. Dessert was outstanding as well, especially the crème brûlée, which tasted like something a pastry chef actually cared about instead of something added to the menu out of obligation. It was the kind of meal where you leave feeling satisfied, relaxed, and already planning your next visit.

If you’re looking for one of the best restaurants in Charlotte, The Fig Tree is absolutely worth the reservation. It’s perfect for anniversaries, celebrations, or just an evening where you want to treat yourself to something genuinely memorable. This is one of those rare places where the food, the ambiance, and the service all hit the mark at the same time — and stay there.

Wonderful food as always. Banana pudding cheesecake was fantastic dessert. Focaccia bread is to die for.

We were a party of 8 and everyone was impressed and satisfied. Dinner portions are more than ample and include a dinner salad or for a little extra, soup or salad upgrade. Parking is a plus.

We were disappointed in the quality of the food. Our food was overcooked. Not what we expected. There far better restaurants in Charlotte at this price point. We will not go back

I am originally from California and trying to settle in North Carolina. I decided to take my woman to a romantic dinner and I picked this restaurant on random. I decided to write this review for future customers and for them to decide.
The restaurant parking is limited,
The receptionist was rude and not very welcoming. I came 15 minutes earlier than my reservation and there is no place to sit or wait. Had to go to my car and wait.
I had a nice table and the service was excellent. Both had a ribeye steak. My girlfriend liked her steak and I can’t say I liked it. In fact hated it. It has weird taste because of so many sauces and cheese. Took couple bites and left it.
We both had tiramisu for dessert and was great.
We don’t drink but seem they have great wine selection.
In my opinion, it is too expensive. Be prepared for like $250 to $350 bill if you both drink or even more.
In conclusion, I don’t recommend, I would try other restaurants next time around and don’t think will return.

We enjoyed all aspects of our dining experience at The Fig Tree. We brought friends visiting from La Jolla and they loved the food, service and ambience. The scallop dish was amazing, as were the appetizer and beignet dessert. It was truly a lovely evening!

The waitstaff was exemplary. Attentive but not intrusive. The food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was elegant and quiet. We will definitely be back.

Only 3 stars because my sea scallops were a shocking disappointment. Normally, Sea Scallops are the diameter of a half dollar - these were the diameter of a nickel….. and much too salty. Disgraceful, chef. The others in the group were satisfied with their entrees.

We had to travel to Charlotte for other reasons and it happened to fall on our wedding anniversary. A difficult travel day with flights canceled, and delays we finally landed in Charlotte at 9:15. I called and explained that we were late and they said no problem get here when you can. We arrived at 9:50 they could have easily turned us away as they closed in a couple of minutes. They sat us and never made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. The wine selection was superb. The appetizers we chose were lobster cakes and grilled octopus. Both were delicious, the octopus was crispy with great flavor. The Cesar salad with calamari added was amazing. Elk chop was cooked and seasoned to perfection. But the sea Bass was the true winner this night!! It was tremendous. It was a beautiful night that made us forget the difficult day. The real star of the show was the bartender that came from the bar to be our server ( I forgot his name ) we were obviously the last table but never felt rushed or uncomfortable. It was a great experience, I can’t express enough how enjoyable this day ended up being.

My wife and I had been to the Fig Tree Restaurant over a decade ago, and we didn’t recall it as one of our favorites. However, tonight’s dinner wiped that memory away and made it into a fabulous memory.
The Caesar Salad was crisp and fresh, with homemade Caesar dressing with real anchovies! The fresh focaccia bread came with garlic spread, we enjoyed amazing wines, my wife’s Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked, as was my Elk Chop, and the Crème Brûlée was delicious.

This was the perfect birthday experience. The menu on open table is not exactly the same as the one on the website. If you are one to look ahead I would start with the website menu. The Tuna Carpaccio was an amazing starter very fresh and the vinaigrette served the right amount of mustard-like tang. The seabass was my Husband's meal it was incredible. My main course was the Veal Chop, I opted for spinach instead of asparagus and what a great choice. The spinach with the chunky mash and the flavor was incredible, if you like your meat very tender and you like your steak medium I would say have the veal medium-rare, I chose medium and it was overcooked but still great. 10/10

Th food and wine are always exceptional at Fig Tree. Depending on the other guests, the noise level can get elevated. Service was excellent.
