I travel through Charlotte often and can't wait to visit The Hop Shop! The owner takes such pride in the beer menu...always something new and adventurous! The locals are a great bunch of people and personalities....stop by and enjoy a relaxed environment with an unbelievable Beer list!

Place has such amazing potential, great atmosphere, friendly staff! 0 stars for their prices and beer selection, I'll give 2 pitty stars cause the bartender is always nice and welcoming. I don't know who enjoys drinking $9 small pours of normal ABV beer, or paying $5-10 over retail on six packs and bottles of wine, but God bless you. The draft selection was 90% experimental and gross two weeks ago, struggled to a find a normal IPA or Lager, which I don't expect is a lot to ask with maybe 8-10 taps? I learned they're under new ownership recently and can't wait to see what changes they make! I hope I have to redo this review in a years time, I hated writing it but it's honest.

Relaxing old world meets new Charlotte. I was born less than a mile away. Moved away and now I am back after 25 years traveling the world and serving. This place felt old and new Charlotte all at once. Reminded me of a grown up version of the Graduate from back in the 90s. The bartender Peace(sorry spelling) was perfect and made me feel so welcome as she recommended perhaps the best non alcohol brew I have ever had. I won't tell you what it was, just talk to Peace. Tell her I said hi.

Johnna over at The Hop Shop is so amazing! She's super friendly and witty. She is very knowledgeable about the different types of beers and wines served. She created a cool, chill vibe which caused me to end up staying for several hours and met a couple of new friends. I'll definitely return in the future. Tell Johnna I sent you!!
