Worst experience ever and the staff is rude

Our first time dining at The Porter's House, but definitely not our last ... Atmosphere is casual elegance with white table cloths, our server, Angela, was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious and the cocktails were great! We had the filet, the black grouper and bacon risotto (so yummy!), and dessert - the brownie with icecream and the creme brulee. The cocktail menu is fun and delicious. (You Had Me at Hello, pictured) The Sea Board made a divine first impression, and we devoured it! The Porter's House may be my new favorite steak house in Charlotte! Will definitely be back!

This place was absolutely fantastic! Had a 7:45 reservation for my 40th birthday dinner, and we were seated right away. I was looking for a place that offered a big porterhouse steak and found one on The Porter's House menu. My wife ordered a cocktail and loved it. The wine selection was also great. I had a glass of one of their reds. For appetizers, we did the mozzarella and tomato salad & the seared tuna. Both were awesome. The steak was huge and amazing. Desert was incredible as well. I had a chocolate cheesecake, which is made in house, apparently with a recipe passed down from the owner's mom. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is great as well. Next time, I'll see if I can request on of their tables adjacent to a window. No complaints at all... thank you to the restaurant and their incredible staff for a wonderful night out! I'm still full from dinner as I'm writing this. :)

This was an absolutely delicious dinner. We were a party of four and everyone had a great meal.Parking: This restaurant is in a busy area with other restaurants and shopping and could be a nice walk around.

Hate to say it..but Racism is alive and thriving at this location. They have outdoor seating, Friends ( 2 Brown Men) went there to enjoy a cocktail & a smoke..as they have done so many times before. The new Female Manager then proceeds to tell my 2 friends that they couldn't smoke on the patio.. even though there are several ash trays outside..A few moments later a White Woman comes out the restaurant, stands on the same patio, lights up a cigarette and No words were said to her.Even security was called on my Friends. When asked why it was ok for the Woman & not My Friends.. she said she didn't have to explain herself.Yeah, you can't explain what is already known!

The appetizer & steak had a lil too much char for my husband & the onions in the mushroom & onion side were undercooked. Other than that, everything was delicious! Steaks cooked perfectly & service was excellent!

The Porter's House is a great place for a date night. The vibes are really cool. The staff are all amazing, from the greeters at the front door to the wait staff. Each one was so attentive and genuinely cared about us. We made a reservation and showed up a little bit early and tables were available. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted in the bar area, so my wife and I chose a table against the wall. The person who brought our menus over next said we looked a little cramped and wouldn't we want to sit in a more open table instead? Yes we would, thank you! Because of that little bit of paying attention, we had a much more comfortable meal. Our waiter was incredible with the way he described the food on the menu to the way he poured the wine at our table. He was a bright highlight of the evening. The Porter's House is a steak house. For some reason, my wife and I both went with seafood. In retrospect, that was a mistake, as we should have stuck with what the restaurant is known for. I started with a tomato and mozzarella salad, which was quite tasty and fresh. I liked it best of all the food I had. For my main course, I ordered salmon over risotto. The risotto was bland and under seasoned and not very flavorful. The salmon was fine. It was cooked properly and tasted like salmon. But nothing about it stood out or made me think I would order it again. To share, my wife and I ordered the Brussels sprouts. They were cooked okay and were drizzled with a balsamic glaze. But the sprouts just didn't have a lot going for them. Maybe they were baked in the oven and therefore no charring took place to enhance the flavor or texture? Not sure. But we both agreed that something was lacking in these sprouts. Other restaurants in the area do phenomenal jobs with their Brussels sprouts. I wouldn't recommend them at The Porter's House. Will we give this place a try again? Definitely. The staff was too good and there is too much promise in the items on the menu that are in the restaurant's wheelhouse. The food was disappointing during this visit, yes. But everything else about The Porter's House screams greatness. We'll just have to remember next time that when going to a steakhouse to order the steak.Parking: Waverly is usually pretty crowded, especially on a weekend evening. Parking is a challenge. I recommend parking in the garage and walking over to the restaurant. But with patience, you can find street parking behind the restaurant or venture further to the parking lot shared by so many other restaurants and shops.

I had an anniversary dinner here and found it to be just okay. First, there was a party of really loud people behind us (not the restaurant's fault) which made it hard to hear my partner. Second, we had to send back the grouper because it was raw the first time but it also wasn't completely done the second time either. The bright side was that the mule and mussels were excellent.

Our food was prepared perfect. We both had steak. Kareem our server was Excellent. Recommended drinks and food choices. His table side manner is impeccable. Can't wait to visit again.

Silly loud. Hard to have a conversation. Even my two teenagers noticed how loud it was. Food was decent. Sides asparagus was undercooked mashed potatoes ...hard to detect any butter cream or anything. Just bland. My ribeye came in more or less a large rimmed bowl....Combined with a dull knife was more than difficult to cut. With other steak restaurants in the area no need to return

We had the most wonderful experience celebrating our one year anniversary! Thank you to management and staff for making us feel like we were at home. We loved every bite of the tomahawk special!

This place is still good, but has gone down hill a bit. The drinks were well poured and good tasting. We had 2 filets and an order of the short ribs. The filets were OK, definitely not center cut, both seemed like ends and had some tough spots. The short rib was good overall. We had the potato au gratin side and they were good but the portion was hardly enough for one person. The Brussels were soggy and didn't have much flavor and were enough for 5 people. This used to be one of my favorite places but won't go out of the way to eat here again!

The food was good but it wasn't hot. The sides were actually barely warm. Everything tasted fine, just not warm enough. For $500 it could've been the correct temperature. We had guests so we didn't complain. I guess that's on us.
