My girlfriends and I stopped by Tryon House after class, hoping for a nice lunch. Instead, we were greeted by a scowling waitress and a manager who tried to charge us $3.74 for a bowl of lemons, accusing us of “making lemonade.” We explained we just enjoy lemon in our water, but he was rude, dismissive, and even loud with one of my friends who tried to speak with him. We left and had a wonderful experience at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar instead. Tryon House may be a local staple, but their hospitality is sorely lacking.
There is a pleasant, relaxing family atmosphere. The owners are lovely and attentive. When I revisit Charlotte, I will definitely eat here.
This place was pretty southern and it felt like home. The catfish was nice and hot right out of the fryer. Eggs were cooked just like I liked them. Would def go back.
a great local family restaurant. The creamy Ritz are really good
Very nice and cozy place. Food was great. Great portions. Pancakes were big and fluffy. Recommended.
A Charlotte favorite and longtime locally owned restaurant that truly keeps the spirit of southern Greek-American cuisine alive!
Anne was also a fabulous server, between a Sunday-morning breakfast service and a mid-afternoon Wednesday, she was as sweet and accommodating as she was thoughtful and took great care of us (including someone with high-needs due to several different medical issues at present).
Food was good but more expensive than the closeby similar reataurant. But hey, they were open and I tried it. Veggies omelet without cheese was good. The side item of sliced tomatoes lacked flavor and were sliced very thin like from a high volume sub shop.
Always a great experience when I go there.
Go out of your way to eat here… Great people and really great Gyros… They also give a small cup of the soup of the day…scratch cooked… Tryon House was recommended by the Kirby Vacuum Repair place that is nearby…
The best part of this restaurant is the service. Our waitress (older woman from Florida) and the manager were very friendly and accommodating. The food was borderline terrible. My wife's blueberry pancakes were undercooked. The batter was still raw!!! The manager has to cook her a brand new serving. My biscuit and gravy was morning like I would have imagined. They served me SO much gravy my plate was soup or gravy for that matter. The hash browns were barely warm or crisp. Not sure if the cook that morning liked his job very much. Go somewhere else like Denny's or IHOP.

Found this gem in a strip mall after visiting Billy Graham library. Boys had chicken fried steak and I had fried flounder. Entries come with a bowl of soup, bread variety and a choice of two southern sides. We enjoyed Mac and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, pinto beans and collards. Ate it all. Delicious! What a treat - come hungry!
It’s a nice restaurant to bring your family and friends for breakfast, dinner, and lunch. The staff and servers are very friendly and and it’s not so busy in there in the morning when I walk in. The food was great specially the creamy grits. I don’t know how they me a creamy but it was very good.
Kid-friendliness: When I walk in they were a couple of children and the restaurant. So it is very kids friendly.

I had forgotten about this diamond in the rough. It is better than I remembered..
I ordered a 4 vegetable plate and was surprised at the quantity. The quality was even better. And the price? BETTER STILL!
Four large vegetable selections with two bread servings for $12. I didn’t even get through 50% yet.
I had green beans, mac n cheese, fried squash and pickled beets. All were good. I will be going weekly at least.
