Uptown Yolk Southend

My hubby and I chose this spot for our anniversary brunch! Everything was amazing, down to the water! Def will be back!!

The food was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised as I thought Leah and Louise was overrated. I wasn't too sure how I would enjoy the cornmeal waffle as I'd never had something like this but I was great. I had a few crispy outside pieces but I was nice a fluffy on the inside. I will say, I think it would have been nice to have a crispier texture on the entire waffle. The chicken thigh was well seasoned.
I ordered the southern waffle which came with pecans. I was expecting at least to receive pecan halves. It was a sprinkling of chipped pecans. They can definitely do well to add larger and MORE pecans. I also asked to add the maple whipped cream. It was literally the star. Like the southern waffle should be topped with this instead of butter. I barely used syrup, it was SO good. I just didn't have enough. (Greg and Subrina if you make that change, holla at ya girl 😉)
While we're on syrup, it was served in these cute little glass bottles with a metal pour spout which made it almost a full time job to get the syrup out. And the container was half full. Three people ordered a waffle at our table and we definitely ran out of syrup (again I hardly used it).
I ordered the cranberry mimosa and was unimpressed. The sparkling wine used was terrible.
We came on a Monday right at 12:30 and had reservations. There were only TWO people in the front of the house: the bartender and the host/waiter. I wasn't going to make a deal of it because they WORKED to serve everyone as quickly as possible and were so friendly and apologetic about the wait and I had just assumed the other staff members called out. But one of the staff told us that it's like this every week day. I feel like thats a poor way to cut corners in your business. Customers shouldn't have to wait that long ( people were piling up the front because the staff weren't able to clear tables as quickly as folks arrived. It took at least 20 minutes to be seated even with my reservation! I also feel that I can be hard on staff to have to run around like that behind the bar, at the hot stand, taking orders, clearing tables.) At least have ONE wait person on staff in addition to the host and bartender.
The place is wonderfully decorated and I really liked the different pillows they had placed around. The music could stand to be turned down a bit.
Overall I enjoyed myself and the food and look forward to returning, hopefully with more staff in place.

Parking: If you get there in time, you can find one of the few leftover free parking spots on the street. Otherwise you'll be paying and walking.

I love Uptown Yolk! It’s definitely one of my favorite brunch spots. The food is delicious. I recently tried the sweet potato biscuit and it was amazing! It’s a little frustrating at times how long it takes to be served but the atmosphere and food is always great so I keep going back!

This is one of my favorite spots in charlotte! Food is always on point. The chicken and waffles are so flavorful. The staff is super friendly.

The food here is fantastic every time we go, and the staff are very friendly. Service can be a little slow at times but not enough to be a concern, and the food more than makes up for it.

Get the sweet potato biscuit, you won't regret it.

I’ve been here several times and will return again. Everything I’ve had on the menu is AMAZING. The sweet potato biscuit is a must order, and the grits are the best I’ve ever had. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. ☕️ 🍗 🧇 🍳 🥞

So Good, my bartender was Paul B and he was great with customer service. I ordered the French toast with grits and eggs and bacon my friend order pancakes, and Paul suggested to get the potatoes since I got the grits.. a mimosa and the yolk remedy for drinks. Everything was great the eggs were already seasoned the grits was a different texture but still taste good the French toast with the maple whipp was KILLA
I will be back with family and friends

This is my second time dining here and I won’t again. My friend and I didn’t enjoy the food or service. Despite the small amount of people in the restaurant, the service was really slow. My drink sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before the server attempted to bring it over. It began to spill so she sat it down and then disappeared for another ten minutes with it out of view. It didn’t taste like sweet potato despite ordering a sweet potato martini. Our appetizer didn’t come and when our food did, we were told it was never put in. My friend had a bowl and it was watery and the steak not flavorful. I had a bacon and egg sandwich. It was stacked with egg and had a thick amount of spicy ketchup substance. The wings were ordered as apps came and they were cooked well but the chimichurri flavor combination wasn’t great. While waiting for our waitress we noticed other tables seated after us for a while that still hadn’t ordered. We ended up leaving to find another place to dine.

Stopped in for breakfast and had a great overall experience. The French Toast, Home Fries, and Pancakes were excellent. Very friendly and quick service. Definitely would describe it as simple breakfast dishes done really well. The one criticism we had was the price. Nearly $100 after tip for a simple breakfast for two would likely keep us from making this place a more regular visit as opposed to just an occasional treat.

Everything was perfect! From the food to the service! We ended up sitting at the bar because we went during a busy time and didn't have a reservation but easily got seated and served at the bar! Absolutely delicious food! Will go again if we're ever in the city again!

10/10 would recommend. Off the back they validate parking. You walk in and it’s such a vibe, so cute. My husband and I were seated immediately on a Saturday, God’s favor isn’t fair lol. Our waiter gave honest recommendations. I had the fire pit I think lol the sweet potato biscuit, jam & chicken gravy. Now the biscuit seemed like cornbread & I didn’t taste a lick of sweet potato but when I tell you the combination was soooo good. Like someone pass me some white rice sooo good. My husband had the shrimp & grits and it had its own unique flavor and was also very good. We split a sweet potato waffle and this you could taste the sweet potato and it was also good. Everything we had was delicious. We will certainly be back.

The shrimp and grits I received was very chunky with big pieces of cheese in it- very unappetizing- I mentioned this to the waitress and she simply dismissed it -“too bad, it’s usually a big hit around here.” No offer to get something different - no discount, nothing - horrible service - will definitely not be back again.
