The vegan options are great..the servings size is not. This restaurant is entirely too expensive for food servings that appear to be for children.. very delicious food, unfortunately you do not get what you pay for. I will not be back

I was told that this restaurant had very good food. The first time I went we paid a high price for a very thin crab cake and fried mushrooms that were very small in size( cut in half). They were tasty. We were disappointed in the portion sizes for the price we paid. We left feeling like we wouldn't return. Well I talked my husband into going back. On the second try: the cornbread was cold, I had to ask for it to be warmed. I didn't like the Mac n cheese, so I asked for cabbage to replace it. Well the waiter was fast to bring me an order of cabbage to replace the Mac and yeast, but the owner came over and asked us to pay an extra $4.00 for the replacement. Well I didn't want leave a bad review but where's the customer service. The owner would rather loose a customer instead of giving an exchange for a dish that the customer didn't like. Customer service goes a LONG way. Perhaps the owner will learn to please her customers. We will NOT be returning.

Amazing food! I’m not vegan, but I had the J*** Chik’un and I felt like I was eating chicken. The flavors and the texture were amazing. 5 stars from me. I will be back.

Flavors On Spot! So happy to finally have the opportunity to try the much talked about Vegan restaurant. Pleasant staff, good music, and cool vibes. Ordered: *The Fish Sandwich with Mac n Cheese *Spicy Shrimp with collard greens and yams The fish sandwich was created from mushrooms but you would never know. The tarter sauce and pickles help to bring it all together. Just wish the portion size matched the advertisement that lured us in to try it. The spicy shrimp were surprisingly good. Tasted pretty darn close to the real thing! The Mac n cheese was decent considering how difficult it is to mimic true cheese flavor. The collards were well seasoned and tender. My favorite item to finish of the meal were the yams. Everything was delicious and a definite go to when you want a good vegan meal with tons of flavor! Considering using their holiday meal menu for Thanksgiving to make life easier.

Amazing food, incredibly delicious! Shared a large plate with country fried chicken, crab cake, rice and gravy and Mac n'cheeze with the buffalo mushroom bites. Soooo good! Favas were the fried chicken and buffalo mushroom bites! Best corn bread I've tasted in a while! Took a vanilla cinnamon bun to go! Definitely a must when visiting Charlotte!

Been here a couple times and it's been ok. Way over priced! Thought I would give it one last try two days ago since they had the lasagna, finally, which was smaller than the size of my palm. With the couple things I bought the bill was $25 including the 15% tip I left for take out... didn't dine there. The next day, my Venmo account sent a message stating there was an adjustment to my bill and now it was $34. It seems the two sides that "came with my lasagna" were recharged as À la carte. Don't even want the stress of fighting it, but I will not be going there anymore. Shame because I am vegan and they are close. Nice service always, but tiny portions, not great, overpriced food. The tiny lasagna was pretty good however.

Saw this spot on IG many months ago and saved it in my phone since I knew I had a trip planned to the Queen City. We stopped in for dinner and are so happy we did! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant is a nice size and very clean. Most importantly, the owners - Vel and Tree are very personable and friendly! I'm definitely going to try and come back again before we leave town!

My wife and I had high hopes, so I hope this review is used to improve things. First, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The front of the house provides a nice view of the kitchen, and the dining area is large and inviting. There were only a few menus, that are hard to read and the pricing is not clear. I did notice that the restaurant overall was pricey. based on what I could discern. The hostess at the front was not very helpful at all. She only described the burgers, after I asked her what was good. She did not provide a good description or present many options, other than the mushroom bites, the drumsticks and the maple bacon burger. Not really knowing what was good, my wife ordered the cheezeburger and I ordered the maple bacon cheezeburger. We also ordered the mushroom bites, but should've ordered some fries. The burgers were $15 and $18 respectively, with no sides. That is excessive given that the burgers don't come with sides, you can get a 8-pack of Beyond pre-made patties for $15.99 ($2/burger), and the burgers were not out of the ordinary. They seem to have a vast array of juices and drinks, but again the hostess never truly described what the drinks were. It would have been great to hear, is this your first time here, let me explain the restaurant to you. This was not the case. We ordered water, which was brought without ice, and in general, had to wait quite a bit of time for everyone. The buffalo mushroom bites came out with 8 small button mushrooms that were over fried, had 6 small ones and two big ones, actually and cost $11. I wouldn't give these high marks, but the batter was pretty good, albeit overall they were a bit salty but spiced nicely. The burgers came out and the buns were flat, soggy, cold and damp. The burgers looked like they had been handled excessively, They did not look visually appealing at all, and the lettuce was flat and pickles luke warm. I just think the burger was not made to the extent that you would expect a burger to be made so if you stick to the soul food, maybe you might fare better. Overall, the kitchen looked like they were working hard to turn out a good product, but execution fell short. My rates are: Ambiance ***** Service * Food * Price * My wife I don't think would go back, but I would try it again if I felt it was improved. I would've thought I'd see different veggie dishes, soups, and wider array of things other than a lot of fried options, so I may have to keep looking for a true vegan soul food place in Charlotte.

This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The atmosphere is extra chill. It supports another small-owned juice business. If you're Plant-based & miss Bojangles dirty rice...get their rice & gravy?!I think their mac & cheese is my favorite....AND it's all #vegan?

I have known about Veltree for a while. If I'm not mistaken, they were first located in the University area. So I was a little surprised to see they moved south to Ballantyne. I'm in town for the weekend with not much to do, so off to the southside.... Food: good. Service: wack and slow. So let me tell you why. This has to be the very first restaurant I have dined at where I had to wait a long a** time for some water. Ummm I guess having a self serve water station never crossed their mind? I had to wait for my food to come out to get water. I'm not kidding. Thought it was bizarre not to get a cup when the order was placed. The excuse: they didn't have enough cups. It's their responsibility to make sure enough clean dishes are available. No plastic cups as an alternative either. Hot mess. The food I got was good. It was a "shrimp" po boy. After my experience, I will not return here.

I'm so sorry to say that I was very disappointed with the food. The collards were cold the potato salad was to cold. The onions rings lacked flavor, and I did not like the "drums" nor did I like the "meatless" loaf. They ran out of Mac and cheez, so I couldn't experience that. The yams were good and the maple "bacon" burger was delicious. The fries were just alright. The owner and staff were very friendly. The was a slight mid step with my order which Vel promptly corrected.

OMD! I have been plant based for over 8+ years, and this food was so good I could taste the love in it.I had the large Soul Plate: the country fried chicken, bourbon bake ribs, yams, potato salad, and collard greens. I am blown away by the Chef's work. I don't even live on this side of town, and I plan on making this a frequent stop (forget the gas prices). The atmosphere is impeccable, and the food is absolutely unforgettable!!

Heard about this place in one of my vegan FB groups. The greens were a total disappointment. How can a purported soul food restaurant not do greens well? I threw them away. The Mac n cheese we just okay. The drums were bland to say the least and another disappointment. The cornbread was also a bit bland but eatable. Will not be coming back.

This place is amazing! Had the drums with collards and yams which came with a piece of cornbread. I ordered it pickup and the amazing smell of it almost drove me crazy on the ride home. The taste did not disappoint. Everything was perfectly seasoned, and I am not a vegan, and still thought was perhaps better than most non vegan versions I have had of the same dishes. I had hot sauce at the ready thinking vegan "chicken" would lack flavor but I never even needed it. The only negative I would say was my husband's bourbon bbq ribs which were extremely hard and dry to point of being almost impossible to eat, although the bbq sauce itself was very delicious. I will definitely be back though!
