As a driver, I do a lot of pickups from places all over the city. Velvet Taco may become one of my New found Love of places to visit for food and good vibes. It's close enough to downtown Charlotte to be a part of the inner city action, but far enough away to not be caught up in too much congestion. It's semi tucked away on Tremont Street
The staff here by pleasant, angry you with a smile. It's clean inside which is a plus for anywhere you get food from. I feel like I have to mention this because not all places care for the environment. It's just true. As far as the food. There's a pretty good selection of things to choose from, and the portions seem to be plentiful for the value
Does parking on both sides other venue as well as the front. There's indoor, patio, and outside seating. So choose up!
All in all, a great place to stop and get some food and chill for a bit

The food was a 10/10 definitely my new favorite taco spot. I got there steak bowl and chips and salsa and they were top tier. I don't usually leave reviews for places but I had to leave a 5 stat review for this place cause it was just that good!

The location is perfect, and both the facility and service were great! However, the quality of the tacos at both locations could use some improvement. When I first tried Velvet Taco at Optimist Food Hall, it was what I’d call a superior taco experience. Unfortunately, the quality has declined over time. The meat tends to be overly saturated with juices or broth, which leaves the tacos soggy and falling apart before I can even take a bite—whether dining in or taking out. The flavor is still there, but the presentation and texture make it difficult to fully enjoy.
I would go again and ask for the meat to be drained to see if that improves the experience, but as it stands, the current quality wouldn’t make me a repeat customer.

A 5 star review is well deserved for this place. I am not a one-time customer, rather a repeat customer who trusts this establishment enough to come here at least once a week. I would like to highlight the consistency of their food, as it always tastes as great as the previous time I would get it. More importantly, the staff is extremely courteous and handles your requests in an efficient manner. Ambience is always great no matter the time you go. Truly one of the top tier places I will continue to come to.
We got takeout from here (a bowl and tacos) and it was DELICIOUS and the employees were so kind and hospitable. Definitely would recommend this location, we have a new go-to lunch and dinner spot. We’ll be back!

This place serves truly delicious tacos and offers great value. However, it has become quite dirty and poorly maintained. The patio has bird droppings on the tables and chairs, and it seems like the staff doesn’t pay much attention to it. I hope this can be addressed.

The nachos are delicious 😋. The chimichurei steak is also delicious. We ordered the limited time taco combo, affordable $. The elote is also great. Durrell was extremely helpful and patient with my selection. Thank you Durrrell! We will come back again when in Charlotte.

I just want to shout out to the people working this morning. Although the manger, who I now know as Sarah the General Manager , was in a position that seemed impossible, she kept her cool. She was meeting the needs of the catering that she had going on, the walk up window that was a revolving door, the people in the restaurant as well as walking her employee at the counter through a difficult order, and did it all with a smile on her face. She made sure that everyone felt helped and not ignored as well as making sure her team was in good spirits. The WTF was suggested as well as a slice of the red velvet cake and let me tell you all, this is a spot worth checking out. By the way the name on the receipt was Leandra, who I believe was the girl at the counter and she was a peach! Koodos to this GM for not letting a rush impact how her customers and staff felt.
