To whom may concern,
I’ve been trying to book Victoria Yard location for months for an event on August 31. I’ve been in communication with establishment since March 25th of 2025. Upon receiving email back with a via text message from Monica she seemed excited to be possible doing a one-off. After that message I received i didn’t hear from Monica for weeks. Upon following up I received a email message stating everyone will be out of the office March 31st. It also stated “Shout” will be going on from April 4-20th to expect delays in messaging. I was patient and understanding. April 20th I was able to finally get a viewing date to view location and ask questions pertaining to business and my potential booking date. It was a lot going on during viewing & Monica was very dry and not helpful. Maybe it was a bad day or a lot going on. I’m not a judgmental person I kept it professional and continue to ask my questions. After meeting was done I asked Monica to please send over was needed of me via email so I can start the process. It was another two weeks for me to get a reply back from Monica on information needed. I was informed I can submit booking rental two ways personal and through my non profit. I choose the non profit way and upon submitting there was another delay on getting a response on her decision to see if my non profit aligns with the community mission. I finally followed up again and around 1:16pm on June 9th that they’re unable to move forward on my booking due to my non-profit not aligning with Victoria Yards' purpose of supporting community-based initiatives and programming. I then asked to please inform me on how it doesn’t align cause everything was discussed and that was main reason for taking this route. I wasn’t even offered the personal booking alternative now. Monica just dismissed all together with no further contact. I finally text stating I’m going to file a complaint cause what decision takes 4 months to get an approval, or denial while in all messages date was locked in up until June 9th.
I honestly feel I was discriminated against. How we go from Monica being excited through via email and text then upon meeting me her whole attitude changed!
When I text her “I’ll be filing a complaint to appropriate parties” that’s the fastest Monica has ever replied consistently.
This isn’t a good representation of your business ‘Victoria Yard.’ I found another location that knows how to do business the right way and I was able to workout all details within 24 hours. I’m spreading this experience in case anyone else come across this same type of experience. If Monica did this to me I wonder who else she’s brushed off and have the non-profit she represents miss out on opportunities.

I came out for the hip hop event during Shout 2025. I will definitely be back as the venue was great!
Great location for festivals. Small intimate and easy to find!
Carolina bbq festival was amazing! Shout out to all the pitmasters and vendors today!
This is a great venue for pop-ups and entertainment.
Great place for events !
We had a great time hanging out at this amazing community space in Uptown Charlotte. It is so creative and thoughtfully curated to bring a vibrant outdoor space to the art scene. Check out local muralists as well as local acts that bring everyone together. Parking and bathrooms nearby.
Fun event
Such a great place to go for live music. Great selection of food! Will surely come back and visit!

Did you know that April 30 is Jazz Appreciation Day??? I didn’t until today! Marvelous jazz offerings- live performances from groups including Herbie Hancock Ensemble, Dave Potter, Ron Brendle Quartet, Art Blakeley Ensemble - a treat for the eyes, ears, heart and soul! Thank you JazzArts Charlotte!
Nice outdoor venue/space for events close to downtown
Great idea! Today there were no events. I will definitely come back at a concert and food trucks.
Attended a free concert. Limited seating available. Be sure to bring your own chairs just in case. Food trucks on site. Restrooms a plenty (porta potties)… surprisingly clean! Friendly and pleasant.
sittin on hold over an hour about a show tonight trying to see
