Waitress got my order wrong. I said I wanted to eat along with dining partner so I'd take wrong order. She said it'd be a minute and she'd get correct order. It was not. No napkins or utensils delivered. Asked hostess for napkins and she brought TWO bar napkins! Soup was great, but lukewarm. Mocktails were reasonably priced. I will not go back. Used to love it, but money is hard earned and I deserve more attentive and complete service.
Good food and service for a busy Friday night. Love those fish and chips with a Smithwicks to wash it down. Can be loud. Irish music would be a plus.
Our food was delicious and our server was very attentive and very nice. She made the dinner even more pleasant and there were eight of us.
Cozy pub vibe. Comfy booth for our group. We all thought the food was excellent. Creative menu. Friendly staff. Interesting cocktails. Highly recommend for casual dinner.
This is a must go. Great food, all kinds of beers, decor and ambience beautiful and takes you to Ireland. Best service I’ve ever had in a place. Shout out to Jack. Just loved it.

The beef stew had tiny bits of beef and very little vegetables. I felt like I was served gravy soup for my dinner. My husband's side dish was undercooked.
May have caught them on bad night. But on both orders of Fish & chips, the fish was overcooked and the shepards pie was more potatoes than anything. The very skimpy layer of pie “gravy” was super watery but did have decent flavor. Serving sizes were good sized. Staff was pleasant and atmosphere was good. Just wish the quality was up to par. Will think hard before traveling here again.
Comfortable and warm pub atmosphere. Fish & chips are the best in CLT and their Guinness pour is perfect.
Went to Workman's Friend for Mother's Day brunch. Very cool spot. Food was very good, great service too. Would love to go back for a beer. Recommend.

If you’re looking for a place with character and a great vibe, The Workman’s Friend is it! We recently celebrated a friend’s birthday there, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The pub has that ideal balance — cozy enough for a laid-back meal but lively enough for a fun night out. The food is spot-on; their fish and chips are crispy and satisfying, and the shepherd’s pie is pure comfort on a plate. The drink selection is fantastic, with plenty of craft beers, creative cocktails, and a solid whiskey list. The staff was super friendly and even helped make the birthday feel extra special. We had such a great time that I completely forgot about my phone and didn’t even take any pictures — a true sign of an amazing experience! Whether you’re grabbing brunch, enjoying happy hour, or celebrating a special occasion, The Workman’s Friend never disappoints!

Consistent and fair every time. Never have had a bad experience - they give you way too many fries though
Fish and chip were delicious! Enough for two to share. The salad had way too much dressing on it though, couldn't eat it.
I love this place. I've never had a bad meal or a bad server here. Whenever a friend asks where I want to go, I say "Workman's." The burgers are amazing and there's always Guinness on tap. Can't get any better than that!
*Can't say the same for parking--but that's Plaza-Midwood for you and it's definitely worth the walk if it comes to it. Lol
Parking: The lot out back is limited, there is *some* street parking on Thomas, and there is a lot across the street. That said, it's still pretty tough to find a spot that doesn't require a bit of walking.
Kid-friendliness: I love my children, but I would not bring them here.
