Fish was tasty and fresh. Everything came out promptly. I’ve never heard of them doing an automatic gratuity at this spot, I've been many times, especially for a small group of four. That’s my only concern/question why is was added for my visit this time!

Found Yamazura Sushi & Sake while looking for somewhere to sit in the sun in South End, and it delivered exactly what we were after.
We didn’t have a US number to join the waitlist, but the staff handled it well. They told us to wait outside and offered to come find us when a table was ready. We grabbed a spot on a bench in the sun and, despite being quoted a 20 minute wait, they came out in about 5 minutes and seated us at an outdoor table.
The place was busy with a great atmosphere, especially outside. It did take a bit of time to flag someone down to order and it wasn’t clear who our server was, but given how busy it was, it wasn’t a major issue.
The drinks were excellent. The spicy margarita had a good kick and the yuzu citrus mocktail was fresh and well balanced. Food was the highlight. The tuna tataki was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the edamame was simple but done well. The Crazy Horse roll was very fresh with a great mix of tuna, salmon and yellowtail, although the pieces were quite large and a bit delicate. The chirashi chef’s choice sashimi bowl stood out with a great variety of fresh fish over sushi rice. My colleague had the miso ramen with tofu instead of pork and they were very accommodating with dietary requirements.
Overall, a very enjoyable meal that was well priced and in a fantastic location to spend a sunny afternoon. Would happily come back.

They charge hidden “packaging” fees (10%) and don’t like to give you back your change for pickup. They also forgot sauces on both of my rolls but the rolls were fine.

we made a reservation for 10 people a week in advance and when we arrived, the table (outdoor picnic bench) was only suitable for max 8 people. when we asked the hostess for two chairs to sit people on the end caps, she gave my partner attitude and said they weren’t able to do that. when my partner explained they made a reservation for 10 and the table only suited 8, she said “i don’t know what to tell you”. we were able to get chairs eventually but it was uncomfortable that we were denied that when we made a reservation for 10 well in advance. when the waitress was taking orders, she skipped over some people leading to everyone eating at different times. she also didn’t check on us during dinner once. i went inside to ask for take out boxes and the check. overall a poor experience for decent food. very disappointed.

This is my favorite sushi place in Charlotte. I have dined in here and we regularly DoorDash from here as well. The food is always good- my favorite is chicken lettuce wraps, very filling and healthy. Other things that we love from here are- miso soup, cream cheese dip, tako yaki, curry rice ball. Our favorite rolls are- gladiator, tarzan, philly roll, shrimp tempura roll. Only thing that I haven't liked from here is brussels sprouts, too crispy for me.

Jackie was the best bartender I’ve ever had ! She was attentive and friendly ! Highly recommend this place just to have Jackie as a bartender! Food was fresh and the best sushi I had around Charlotte. Did not leave disappointed

Great sushi & atmosphere! Pretty busy on the weekends so plan ahead. They seem to have limited seating options and it is pretty cramped for space so you could be waiting a bit potentially. We were able to grab 2 seats at the bar without a reservation on a Friday night.

My complaint is the takeout containers literally MELT - they clearly put food in styrofoam when it’s way too hot and it dissolves and the plastic probably all melts into the food. This happens all the time... and it’s worse most times with all 4 corners of the container melted. Otherwise the food is actually really good.
