Pulled pork had a pretty bad off flavor, bad enough I couldn't eat but 3 bites even after drowning it in their vinegar sauce. Husband agreed it was very off, tasted musky like boar meat.

The ribs were quite good, and no complaints on the sides (onion rings, canned green beans, baked beans, and collards). Price was higher than the food deserved, pretty bummed neither of us could eat the pulled pork. Might try it again, might not.

Ribs were boiled, not smoked or grilled. Beans tasted like they had liquid smoke added to them. Collards were less than good and bbq sauce tasted like old coffee. Best thing on the plate was the two small hush puppies I had.

Used J-Topps to cater our event.... BAM! All of the food they brought was awesome and the ends were out of this world. So many people complimented our lunch choice that I would gladly endorse John and his team to bring the meats for you next event.

We've given this restaurant three shots. The first time was probably four or five years ago. We came away not terribly impressed by the food. But just this week we had take out twice. The first time this past week I got the fried catfish plate with fries and hush puppies. My husband had brisket with mac and cheese and cole slaw. I remember us looking at each and saying at the same time how good the hush puppies were. And then I commented on how I loved the hand cut fries and how good the fish was. I was pleasantly surprised and excited that we could add that to our list of take out places. So we decided to do take out today, Sunday. And I told my husband, this is why we stick to chain restaurants where there's a higher chance of consistency in the cooking. The food today was terrible! The hush puppies were awful. They had a terrible taste to them and my fish was very under cooked. I had two bites of my fish and couldn't eat the rest. My husband even agreed the hush puppies were terrible. Unfortunately we won't be giving them another shot. Onward and upward to the next place.

J-Tops BBQ Shop recently catered our wedding reception at Twin Oaks Barn venue and John and his team really did an excellent job. Our 145 guests loved his food and he was so fun to work with. Thank you John and team for making our event a success! We can’t wait to visit the shop for dinner!

Driest brisket we’ve ever had. Potato salad was okay. 90 bucks for 3 pounds of meat two pints of sides and a gallon of tea

People say alot of stuff…. If u wanna know how this bbq tastes just drink a shot of vinegar… go to Smithfields if u think this crap is good and save money… so many better bbq places around that dont drown their meat in vinegar… i understand nc is known for vinegar bbq but i think it’s compensating for overcooking or selling leftovers… somehow even though it was swimming in vinegar it was still dry … i couldn’t convince my 6 year old to eat it even on a sweet Hawaiian bun

Loved their brisket sandwich and their bbq sauce was on point. The only critique I will give is I wish the sandwich had a little more brisket on it. The flavors are great though!

Stopped in today, had only been one other time many years ago. First off, the young men working here genuinely make you feel as if you walked into grammas kitchen! Smiles, friendly, and so helpful! They are what put this little spot at the top of our list! Way to go guys! We had burnt ends which were so so yummy! As well as the dark meat BBQ chicken, green beans, Mac and cheese, and onion rings. Everything was flavorful, and their BBQ sauces delish! Between the food and the smiles we found a new fave lunch spot! Bonus that it's right next to our fave ice cream shop!
