I contacted Metropolis early in September to see if they would be open the first week in October, when we were planning to visit OBX. They weren't sure (lots of places close down after the season is over). So we were glad when we were able to make reservations. What a wonderful find! We've been coming to the Outer Banks Annually for the last 30 years but we only started with Metropolis the last few years, but it is a new tradition, with sometimes multiple visits in a week!

The owners are usually on site and working and are friendly and happy to talk about the history of the restaurant or the food and give recommendations when asked.

I'm not sure we have ever had anything we didn't like here. This year...

Everything was delightful from start to finish. The vibe was relaxed and fun, the pacing of the meal was perfect, the customer service was top notch, and the food was beyond amazing. If I could give this restaurant 100 stars, I would!
